Having removed the offside doorskin from my TR7, there are a few areas of the frame itself that need a little work and/or replacement. In order to do a proper job, and to make sure it doesn't need any attention for another 29 years, I want to get the frame as rust free as I can before reskinning it.
Trouble is, the way the frame if made, and it having a massive side impact bar, there are a few areas that I can't really get to to 'de-rust'. So, I think of getting the frame blasted to get into all the nooks and crannies.
Good idea? Bad idea? Any recommendations of someone in my area (Milton Keynes) who'd undertake this for a reasonable cost within the next week or so? No chance of damaging the doorskin itself as it's skip fodder, with a new skin awaiting fitment.
Ta muchly,
Dale

Thanks Keefy - good find.
Have you used him yourself? I can't see warpage being a problem on a door shell, but you never know. He's quoted me about £30-40, and to be honest, I'd rather someone with 'vehicle' experience do it than not...
Cheers,
Dale

the only problem i've found with blasting car parts is the grit obviously gets everywhere.good for blasting, but just when you think you've got it all out, you go to paint a bit of it, and whammo, a secret pile of grit blows out and into your lovely paint!very annoying.

I did think about getting it dipped, but then there's making sure the acid's not left sitting in any inaccessible seams (there are quite a few in a TR7 door!) in the hinge strengthener plates and the SIP bar. I only really need 'localised' blasting (you can see where it needs to be de-rusted, you just can't get to it), so I think that grit retention can probably be kept to a minimum. Then I can make SWMBO hoover it out over and over again until I'm satisfied ;D. Don't tell her I said that

A little off topic but I am sure there are 2 TR7s in my local scrappy, codicote near hitchin, not far from you really.
