Hello, this is my 190e. Its a 2.6 and manual which is quite a rare combination. Its soon to have 6 months tax, and has 12 months MOT. Reason for sale is I want something different basically. Spent a lot of time and money playing with this car.
The interior is very good overall. The colour is grey (mushroom I think its called) no rips or tears anywhere which is great especially when considering the age and mileage of the car. Its still soft, and comfortable and has no creasing. The drivers seat bolster is worn, and the left back doorcard has blown out at the top. I just haven't got round to fixing that yet.
The steering wheel is flaking slightly, and could do with replacing ideally preferably with a smaller item as its rather like using a ships wheel!, as is the gearstick. The gear surround front switches holders have broken so the front window switches are located where the rear ones were. The spare switches will be included. The mileagte clock is a bit faulty and sometimes gets slightly stuck. I suspect one of the cogs has come slightly loose. A fairly easy repair I would imagine
The interior also benefits from the drivers armrest which is great to use and extremely comfortable. I beleive it was a £200 extra when new!
All the electrics inside work fine apart from the rear electric windows. Could just be seized motors or possibly the wiring. It has electric sunroof, elctric front windows, dual zone heater, electric front left mirror. Remote central locking and alarm/immobiliser, which all work perfectly. It still has the original bilstein jack, and toolset for changing the wheels, as well as a mercedes warning triangle.
The exterior. the car is painted in paint code 199. The overall condition is OK, however the upper rear wings have faded a fair bit, there are a fair few scratches about the body as well. The passenger front door has heavy scratching to the window sill area. There is also some small rust bubbling on the front arches. Overall though its in ok condition and looks very good when washed. If you were handy with a machine polisher i'm sure you'd be able to have it looking a lot better, and get some of the missing shine back.
This particular 190e boasts the "M103" 2.6 litre 12-valve straight 6, making 166BHP and 168ft.lb, propelling it to 60 in 7.8 seconds (claimed). Power is transmitted to the road by a 5 speed manual. This is very rare for a 190e let alone the top of the range 2.6. Its also a timing chain, so no pesky cambelt changes to worry about.
The M103 starts at the first turn of the key, and as said earlier pulls extremely well. There is still a slight bit of gunk left over from the old hgf, I will do another flush, and oil change next weekend.
The 5 speed gearbox operates very well. It is fun to drive. And through town you can mostly just leave it in 4th or 3rd and ride the wave or torque. That said there is no odd noises or selection issues - even quick shifts are easy to do. The clutch, does not slip and engages without any judder or issues. The differential is quiet. It does clunk slightly while switching from forward gears to reverse. However the 2.6 and manual combination is renowned for this. It has no other negative effects whatsoever.
The power steering works, as you'd expect, and turns lock to lock smoothly and without issue. The brakes are very strong and pull the car up very well. The ABS works perfectly, the light also is not illuminated while driving. The handbrake holds the car with ease.
As it only weighs just under 1200kg its fairly lively, quite unlike modern saloons. It feels light and nimble and with the uprated suspension grips the road well.

The things I've done while owning it. In november I tried to sell the car, however just before I managed to sell the head gasket went. And Although it wasn't overheating badly I wanted a repair. It was then that I was offered a 100k 2.6 motor which had a fresh head gasket. I bought the engine and spent the next few weeks fitting it in my free time. It has recently had its MOT so is now good to go.

and it comes prepped with wiring for amp and subwoofer in the boot.
As well as a CD changer in the boot.
Recent new battery
I might have forgotton a few things as well. Have reciepts for all of the recent work. The work i've done to the car totals up a fair bit. Its not been about making my money back, as that is extremely unlikely. But I think the price is fair regarding what the car now offers.
Bad bits: The passenger door has some heavy scratching to it. on the window sill part. The general paint finish is quite dull as is. There are a few small outward dents in the rear panels, where some silly person has let something roll about in the boot. The bootlid also has some fairly badly scratches on it. There are a fair few other scratches across the bodywork as well. Worth saying the photos do flatter the car. The petrol gauge is a bit funny occasionally, the petrol light still works exactly when it should so you know how much you've got. Unfortunatly after the engine change the speedo is not functional, most likely just needs a new speedo cable, after it has been disturbed.
This would make a great daily drive. It eats miles, and is ever so comfortable. It could also make a great drifter/track project. Weld the diff and you would have a great drifter.
I'm not sure what else I can say about it really. Overall its a great car, and could be even greater with a bit of enthusiasm and hard work. Mechanically very sound, all works as it should, a bit of love on the bodywork/paint front, and it could be close to perfect. I've run out of enthusiasm for that though really, I enjoyed having it as a summer project and spending time and money getting it to be a bit more presentable. However the time has come to move on. I need something a bit more sensible and economical for my new commute.
If you want pictures taken of any certain area, or you just want to question/talk about the car don't hesitate to drop me an e-mail.
I have tons of pictures and will take more if requested.
Thanks Very much for looking!
P.S. Forgot to mention the car will also come with a complete spare set of 5 Mercedes 8 Hole wheels. 3 in good nick, 2 of them are quite bad in condition of paintwork, and one has a nasty chip in the rim. All with good tyres though. I also have a spare bootlid, as well.
