Hi All,
I'm new!
Hope everyone is well?
I might be able to lay my hands on a Mitsubishi Sapporo that has been sat for a few years, for not a lot of money.
The body needs a bit of work as it has....let's just call it a bit of rust.......and was wondering if people think it's worth saving at all?
If I do save it, then it would be getting a complete mechanical make-over, as in, modern everything, bigger engine, brakes, suspension and so on, but left to look as standard as possible on the outside.
What does everyone think?
Thanks
Rich

Hi Rich, welcome to RR! Old J-tin will get a lot of love on this forum! What year is the car? I don't know much about these.

Welcome to the forum Rich! Hard to say without seeing it but they're definitely worth saving if possible, they're a great looking retro and Japanese retro stuff is going up in value all the time it seems.
I like the idea of doing a complete modern mechanical makeover, what donor are you thinking of using?

How much they asking? Replacement parts, apart from service parts, are very hard to come by. If your planning a complete modify then thats probably not too much bother. That said, it may have disc brakes all round as standard, and the 2.0L engine pulls pretty well. Id also say its worth buying as a breaker too Not sure if Stuyizz is on here much at moment, but hes the Don when it comes to sapporos and would be able to tell you more.

If it's a 2.0 with twin Mikuni carbs, and you're binning the mechanicals for something new, I have a buyer for at least one carb...

They share some stuff with the Starion. I have an old workshop manual book for the Sapporo.

Thanks for the answers guys, it just seemed a bit different, so thought it would be a good idea. It also has some very nice lines, which I really liked.
As for the year of it, I believe it's a 79? but need to double check that.
The donor car is a little tricky, as you sometimes need to be a little careful with these things. It would be a J engine/box, but what I would be looking for is a donor that was reasonably cheap to give up it's bits, it just may not be another Mitsi. So maybe something like a Supra, 200sx/300zx, Starion and so on.
I will keep you updated on this one, I have an 04 astra 2.2 sri as my daily driver and a k2 gsxr750 for my 2 wheeled fun, but just fancied something else to tinker with, and as old Fords are MEGA money, thought I would give them a miss.
If I decide not to go for it (moving house over the next 4 weeks) and need to see how I'm fixed for time and space, then I will post up the details of it's location in case anyone else wants it.
Thanks
Rich
