Hi all,
I am new to this forum but I post regularly on the TDC forum etc.
I have decided to sell my black 1971 GT6 Mk 3 which I bought in December 2009. I really don't want to but a lack of funds is forcing the issue. Basically I bought her as a non-runner with the intention of having her restored locally. I have a significant history folder with the car and can tell you the following:
She is obviously tax free, has had 9 previous owners and was last restored in London between 1995 to 1997. There is an extensive photographic record of this restoration as well as many bills for parts etc. Unfortunately the car was not rust proofed and so the lower panels have suffered since then. However as she has a separate chassis new panels will simply "bolt on." During the restoration the engine was rebuilt and since purchasing it we have had it running and it sounds lovely and smooth (please see Youtube Video link below). She now happily pops in and out of the garage under her own power.
The car was taken off the road in the middle of 2006 and has not been used since (until we got her running in January). When I purchased it the vendor stated that he thought some of the panels were saveable but as I am a fussy jolly pain in the backside I have bought a large (and expensive) set of spares and panels including:
Two new Heritage front wings
Both outer sills
Both front quarter valances (fibreglass)
Rear wing repair panel
Inner wing (to boot floor) hand made full repair panel (not just bottom half)
New tailgate / boot seal
Full new hose set inc stainless steel clips
I also have a spare set of carbs and a spare starter motor that came with the car. The car also is also fitted with a folding Britax sunroof (in excellent condition), a stainless steel exhaust system and rear spax adjustable shocks.
The interior of the car is in very good condition. If I was being picky i'd point out that a small piece of vinyl has come unstuck round the handbrake, the front footwell carpets are a bit grubby and the dash veneer needs replacing but everything else is lovely.
As you can see I have been totally honest and the car does need a fair bit of work to become roadworthy but if you are handy with a welder it will make a lovely looking summer runabout. Since I have had it the brakes have been overhauled (calipers and master cylinder resealed) and it has had all new service components.
I really don't want to sell but I am faced with no other choice as it has been sitting since January and work is not progressing well due to funds. As I have two other Triumphs this one will have to go I am looking for £1300 and that doesn't cover the costs I have incurred so far but as they say such is life! I'll give it a couple of weeks on here and then it will be on the 'bay.
