Model: Austin 1100
Year: 1966
Mileage: 108,000
Tax: August 2010 (tax free)
MOT: September 2nd 2010
Location: Stourbridge, West Midlands
Price: £400 (ish)
I am selling my Austin 1100, mainly due to needing to spend money on the bodywork of my Austin Maxi.
It is in what you would probably call an unrestored state.
For its last MOT it had the brakes overhauled and welding along one side (this is according to the previous vendor, unfortunately no bills to back that up although I do have the MOT failure sheet).
The engine is from a Morris 1100 and is believed to have covered 50,000 miles, I would imagine this is correct as the engine is very sweet. I had the gearbox rebuilt over the winter which involved replacing first gear, layshaft and a main bearing. It is the gearbox without synchromesh on first gear, it is still a bit noisy in first gear, but I have been advised that it is fine.
The bodywork is fair, may need a front offside wing and generally some tidying. The interior is also a bit tatty, I do not believe that the car has been that well looked after.
Unfortunately it needs a displacer on the offisde as the suspension has gone down.
If I cannot sell I will probably put it in store until I have spent money on the Maxi and then use it as a project for next year.
I would probably be open to offer or would swap for something old, solid (and tatty) which I could use as a second car to the Maxi!
There are some picture below and also a link to my Flickr account which shows more photos including some of the rear subframe.
