No it's not mine, I won't be playing with cars for some time... I asked Nick if I could share these photos of one of his latest projects. The hapless fool lurks on here, but has never signed up. I took the first pic ages ago, then the rest in Feb when I was last in the UK. I will be popping back in at the end of April, so will update again, unless someone else (Mr Mares, elpassata, Steffan etc.) gets there first. Apologies for the phone spec photos... Take one very rusty but mechanically sound mk1 MR2 with that legendary 4age engine. And mount the whole rear chassis and subframe in the back of a Mk3 Polo Coupe. (Yes, there is still a big enough boot for a set of golf clubs ) By using the MR2 firewall, it should make for a reasonably quiet ride. MR2 tunnel, so gearbox and rad pipe mounting will be a doddle. Front end is also going to get MR2 suspension and steering. Currently just mocked up to get measurements/angles correct.

I wouldn't count it being quiet with the mr2 firewall installed in the polo. I have an mr2 of that vintage with the interior stripped out for racing and its bloody loud inside. The mr2 firewall padding and carpet is a huge heavy dense thing for this reason. I'd keep the interior firewall carpet for the polo.

Excellent - look forward to updates on this. Had similar thoughts myself but into the back of a late model starlet - bearing in mind the rot on Mk1 MR2s I'm amazed more people aren't doing this converstion more!
