I want to put a back bumper on my mk4 Escort van. I know I will have to chop it about a bit. What i'm trying to find out is how long is the Orions back bumper and how long is an Escort estate back bumper?Has anyone got a mk2 Orion or a mk4 Escort estate that can take some measurements for me please? I would like to know what it is from here to here please and some photos i found on the net mike

I wish I could add something productive but what I will say is that I need a nice and subtle Orion or Escort combi in my life.

going of your photo of the van from arch to rear alpng the swage line is 64 cm the orion rear bumper (same as the one in your photo ) from arch lip to inner rear lip is 74 cm the hatch back escort from arch to rear is 49 cm & the bumper inner is 53 cm & I'm sure the estate is between the to as I tried to fit a mk4 bumper on an estate & it was to short (think the mounting points where different aswell plus the estate rear bumper has a reccess in it to let the boot open ) plus as I have just tried to line the orion bumper up on my mk4 escort van ive found another problem the van is also wider !!!! hope this helps using the upper swage line as boraf says below

57 cm on the estate but i may not have measured exactly to where you want cos the corner turn is differant and the bumper sits higher up, i measured along the upper swage line of the 2 in your pic (along the line of the top of the bumper.

i looked into this for my matt black van, it was a mk5 but wont be miles off. only thing i was told that would be made to fit would be a mk5/6 escort estate bumper, or mondeo estate. both need large ammounts of chopping to get side length correct, but also would have to be tweaked at the rear to allow a recess for the bottom of the rear doors to open.
You can get direct fitment escort cossie style rear bumper for a van, but they're tatty fibre glass rubbish and cost £185.
Good luck, if you do make one, keep us updated, as its something i wanted to do with mine but never got round to it.

I like that it looks cool lower than I was thinking though its mounted exactly where your pointing in your picture?? its not level with the front bumper but its a shallow bumper and anywhere else either higher or lower looked ultra wierd lol! they were level at the bottom i knew someone would mention the baking tray so took more pictures while i was out their

Love the baking tray idea, had one as a number plate holder on my R1100R BMW, as the aftermarket zorst usd to burn the numberplate when run at illegeal speeds over distance, and the cops had a thing for small plates, so standard it had to be.
