I've done the decent thing and bought an old Ginetta which is based on a 1976 Cortina, or at least some of it is.... I've equipped myself with a Haynes manual and I'm gathering ideas for money to waste spend on it. The dash is from a Mk4 but I'd prefer a set of clocks from a Ghia / S with a revcounter. The heater fan is noisy and there's no warm air so after I've done some digging I might need a new heater unit. Other than ebay, is there a good place to look for this kind of thing? Since I had a Mk 2 Granada 20 years ago, I've got no idea of anything blue ovalish. Have some pics, because I can Bonnet up, putting on a battery with more power than a PP3 Oooh, popup headlights that pop up. And down! Wonder for how long? The view that other road users will get. In my dreams Hideous interior. Needs a lot of work

Thats cool, me likey Id have one. If its got the floorpan and suspension from a cortina may I recommend changing the void bushes (and every other bush) for polyurethane as I did this on my mk5 cortina and it absolutely transformed the handling, cost around £100 for them all and was the best thing I ever did to it. Looks like you got fiesta doors and side glass too! buysellcortina.co.uk was awesome for me in terms of parts check em out. What motor is it, 2.0 pinto? Those seats look like Rover ones (may be wrong) some recaros wuold look good or a bargain set of buckets?

Ginetta G31? Mostly cortina running gear (separate chassis) but mk2 fiesta doors and glass ;D
Nice one...

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

Those seats look like Rover ones (may be wrong) some recaros wuold look good or a bargain set of buckets? It’s got the Cortina front crossmember (but without its insulation bushes) and standard rear on a custom made galvanised chassis. I believe it’s had polyurethane bushes fitted, although they could be knackered again by now. Good spot on the Fiesta doors and side glass, I think the rear screen is Fiesta too but the windscreen is Cortina. Cheers for the buysellcortina link, I’ve been looking around there already. It’s got a trusty 2 litre Pinto at the moment, as long as it gets through the emissions test on the MoT it’ll probably stay. Ginetta G31? Mostly cortina running gear (separate chassis) but mk2 fiesta doors and glass ;D Nice one... Ooooh, close but no cigar - it’s a G26. I think the G31 was uglier at the front and might have been a 2+2? Is there nobody who can’t spot Fiesta glass? ;D where abouts are you? there is a cortina breaker guy in lincs has a big hand painted sign on the road ,cortina parts for sale, sorry to be vague its clean gone out of my head exactly where it isI’m in Bedfordshire. Cheers for the tip on the Lincs breaker, I’ll see what I can find. I think it’s been a while since Cortinas were in every breakers yard….

Some nice Wide rims with plenty of dish, and a subtle drop would = WIN from me.
In fact I would roll in that right now.

rev counter dash is not a straight swop, it requires some moving about of the wires in the plugs and a feed from the negative side of the coil, not that hard to trace what goes where though, but if you just plug it in a lot of it wont work.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

Ah, cheers dude. I think it's got oil, charge and indicator lights working but not much else. I'd have to do some digging anyway so why not with a new set of clocks. heaters are quite loud on cortinas anyway but if there not a lot of heat its normally one of a few things either the foam gaskets have gone (they perish a lot ) easy fix though just stick some fresh foam on and the heat should come back could be the cable that operates the flap for the heat can get stuck or disconnect from the flap if that's not the problem its more than likely the matrix is either blocked or air locked . eBay is probably your best place for corty parts now days . there is Steve Taylor in essex who specializes in cortinas and usually has most parts he can be contacted through www.buysellcortina.co.uk there also normally a good selection of parts for sale on there as well

If you need a heater motor i have a few J25 M25 As Mark says new foam makes a big differance to how hot the air is mine has recaro foam sealing the heater matrix so it's warmer and faster

Some nice Wide rims with plenty of dish, and a subtle drop would = WIN from me. Because the Ginetta is quite a lot lighter than the Cortina, I'm told that the solid rear axle hops about over bumps quite a lot. I think some softer rear springs might help with the ride, the wheels staying on the ground, and make it a bit lower. It needs new wheels, I'm just trying to find some around 6 inchx14 or 15 with decent offset. Something like the Weller wheels below, but bigger diameter. heaters are quite loud on cortinas anyway Maybe, but this one sounds like it's powered by a 2 stroke There's probably a bird's nest in there, and some sparrow is getting clouted by the fan once per revolution. but if there not a lot of heat its normally one of a few things either the foam gaskets have gone (they perish a lot ) easy fix though just stick some fresh foam on and the heat should come back could be the cable that operates the flap for the heat can get stuck or disconnect from the flap if that's not the problem its more than likely the matrix is either blocked or air locked . eBay is probably your best place for corty parts now days . there is Steve Taylor in essex who specializes in cortinas and usually has most parts he can be contacted through www.buysellcortina.co.uk there also normally a good selection of parts for sale on there as well Cheers for that, I think there's air trapped somewhere because the temperature gauge went quite high when it was idling. Are the heaters easy to take apart? If you need a heater motor I have a few J25 M25 As Mark says new foam makes a big differance to how hot the air is mine has recaro foam sealing the heater matrix so it's warmer and faster A few heater motors, it must be really cold down your way Thanks for all the info, I'll see how the MoT goes and then where to splurge my money and effort first.

The reason the rear jumps about is cos it has cortina rear end they all do it, curse word rear end design but i bet it's worse with a lighter car cos i know all my cortinas get a better ride with more weight in th back softer springs and thick ARB might help but i think the ginetta already uses thicker ARBs than the cortina ?
