Here's my '83 polo classic saloon I bought her stock for £200 after she'd been sat for about six months. Sadly that was last July and she sat in my garage for another six months. My plans at the moment basically invovle tidying up the rotten bodywork. I've got a new pair of wings waiting to go on and I'm gonna have a go at the bumpers with a heat gun tommorrow Anyway, let me know what you think. Cheers, Peter.

gotta love a booted dub
looks sweet
as to bumpers mate, before doing the heat gun try things liek boiled lisneed oil or even smooth peanut butter - works real well - a mate of mine did his mk1 goof bumpers with a heat gun and it looked great, but they went very brittle..
just tried to find a pic of my passat mid peanut butter treatment, but its gone missing

Cheers,
Cheers for the info too... I get enough funny looks from my neighbours as it is, I'd love to see their faces if they saw me spreading peanut butter on my car! lol
So when you say brittle, were they cracking by themselves? Or just whilst they were being removed or re-fitted?

the plastic lost its flex, they didnt crack, but didnt feel the same..
I got a fair few loosk when i did the peanut butter too, had a thread up about ti with some poictures, but i cant dind it now - it does work, lasted for about 4 months through the summer as well
I've found that old dirty engine oil works really well too and that helps with the movement
there's lots of theory's and story's for it, people trying different methods etc - makes you wonder what the first person to use peanut butter was thinking when he found it out...

I would go the linseed oil or heat gun route. I would not be tempted to use old engine oil as this is considered to be a carcinogen and as such, I avoid all contact with it.

that looks sweet as...
have you not just tried back to black? lol I used a turtle wax black polish on the bumpers and rubstrips on my Leon, but they're not as faded as my polo's, but I'm gonna try that again as I was quite impressed by it.
I have also heard that peanut butter works, might try that on mine if the turtle wax dosnt work lol

Cheers! The wheels are ATS Classics, 13x7 et38 all round, would like some 8's for the rear, could probably get away with some spacers though...

Love these little things So nearly bought one a few years ago that looked a lot like pauldaf44's housemate's 'loon. Then when I was on the lookout for a new car when I crashed my Mini a polo was what I was aiming for, again a 'loon was joint top of my wish list along with a mk3 GT. Unfortunately everything seemed to be far too expensive for the condition it was in due I guess to the 'dub' tag. And then I found my Viva. Yours looks really nice though, lovely colour and bargain price
