How about a Mk2 transit? Pintos are easy to cope with, teemed with a later 5 speed. The DI came in with the phase2 and will plod on and on. 4.5 grand would easily get you a very good one!

How about an Imp van , hers mine although its got side windows fitted ( not by me ) , this was my daily for 8 years , 13,000 miles a year every year , never let me down although a bit maintenance heavy for some
