Made 'obligitory rear tube bumper' today.. Length of scaffold, job done. Got to take it all off to be welded properly but still pretty strong as-is.. Then went to The Range to get some supercheap trailer lights for 'SJ trailer lights on door'.. Got some that don't look quite as bad as bog standard trailerboard lights so quite pleased. Just need to pick up a foglamp now. might do some more welding tomorrow

nice one.
I need to sort the rear lights out on mine but I want to keep the bumper. The lights are really grotty.
You know what I need more than that though, Mudflaps.
Edit, need to update my sig too.
Is it for road /offroad use then?

Edit, need to update my sig too. Is it for road /offroad use then? Bit of both really, I want to use it offroad but not thrash it, just have fun greenlaning at weekends sortof thing, and I want it too look mean and a bit evil too I need mudflaps too now, I can see too much tire at the back. Just fone put the Halfords 'rally' flaps on if you have a stock exhaust. I melted a set on my 413 This is getting a side exit behind the front wheel I think so I can fit whatever flaps I wants ;D My stock lights were, for want of a better word, gash. The bulbs are stuck in the holders, the earth strip has snapped now and all the wires are butchered from having a towbar. Could fit trailer lights like these into the bumper? Or pick up a set of lights from eBay? there are new sets on there often enough

hmm, your lights sound like mine.
I was more concerned about the front flaps (ooh-err!)
All I get is feces sprayed up the side of the car whenever I go though any muck//water.
I made some arch things for legal reasons as much as mud stopping things, which is all the better because they don't stop any mud from flying up off the rear bottom part of my front tyres and coating the side with effluent.

I've never really worried about muck up the sides. I'd often go to the local jetwash and was the chassis and arches (waste of time in hindsight : but leave the mud on. Stopped people asking me why I had knobbly tires and a bullbar on my silly pointless 4X4

Awesome stuff Mine is going to end up as some kind of impromptu pickup anyway as I won't ever trust the rear seatbelt mounts again Plus, the seats were a total waste of space ;D Bumper looks champion lad ;D A mate of mine had an SJ years ago running a 1600cvh XR3i lump through a type9 'box.......it was quite a beast Steve Sounds awesome.. I want to do something enginewise to this but at the moment I want to get it roadbourne. After all this time it still doesn't even leak oil

Got the rear refectors mounted (need to move one down a little ) and also slung the foglamp on. Dropped the fuel tank so I could see what condition it was and so I could weld without exploding and re-route the tail-light wiring This comes out somehow re-loomed the rear wiring into one run and taped up the un-used numberplate wiring. (after this pic anyway ) And then nearly finished the rear corner's welding Moar lator!

theres a man in Forfar that has a Suzuki thats an orange cab and small pickup box, with a black external cage. Lifted over big tyres. Looks good. I'm always meaning to take a picture for the spotted thread. Yesterday was a good chance. As it was parked in the town centre. And the traffic warden was giving it a ticket. But I didnt have my camera or phone on me.

Is it this one perchance? The owner is on Difflock, another forum I spend a fair amount of time on. Back on topic, the SJ is shaping up very nicely.. I need to get some more work on mine when i'm back home.. too ashamed with my pitiful progress to post a reader's rides thread up on here! Are you going to give it a respray once it's all done?

Are you going to give it a respray once it's all done? Cheers! Get a thread going anyway Gonna 'respray' it yea, just not sure what yet. Progress is a bit slow but hope to put some time in soon. Got some nicer tail lights by accident today so that should be fun

They will look a bit like this.. When all 8 are fitted. Got the 4 N/S holes cut and am in the process of adding tabs to screw the lights too Going to start soldering up the loom this evening too (nice night in )

Not a lot done today (was inbetween painting my wheels) Some old giffer gave me and my mate a big box of tat and in it was.. Sparkrite ;D Works too, so hopefully should help with my points burning out. But, while I was doing that, something (not sure what, didn't find it!) fell into the radiator fan. Fail. Ouch. Not good. Got a bit of room with it off though.. so.. leccy fan conversion is now on the cards. Hope to get some real work done on it soon...

Didn't do a lot today on it (again) Fitted a new horn as it was missing (my bad ) Also found somewhere for some gauges to go. Works for me, but I'll probably stick a rev counter in nearest the driver and the vac gauge over the other side.

Ooooh updates! ;D Messy welds to the N/S floor got seam sealed and brush primed- So that done, started cutting/poking the other side- I'm sure there is meant to be a bodymount here: ;D Arch: Underneath: Rear corner: Also had a knotwheel of the suspicious looking O/S bed rail. Bad move: sigh. Fun. Also got the bit round the filler to do: Well, until next time.. enjoy the shonky pics
