A quick question for all the experienced welders out there...
What is the easiest way to fill lots of drilled holes in my new shell?
One of the previous owners was very drill-happy - made lots of holes for brackets/clips etc. and I want to fill all the holes before painting the interior.
thanks for your collective wisdom!

works as a heat sink and stops a mess on the rear

Good tip on the brass / copper - I've just been blasting them with the MIG until daylight stops showing up until now! ;D Will try the brass trick next time I'm doing a job like that. Nice one!

Copper is expensive by the kilo, but if you go to the scrappers they'll sell you a a nice heavy strip for a fair price.. got mine for 4 euro's and works a treat, get a decent lump though as copper is a very good conductor so a small piece will get hot very fast.

but.. don't use a little bit of copper tube flattened. It gets hot too quick and doesn't really work very well. Look in my boot if you want to know how I know this ;D

I use this gadget of magic: Basically it's 2 pieces of brass & a nice handle (so you don't burn ya fingers) which have been shaped & threaded so it can fit in as many places as possible, for example.. For flat surfaces: For curved surfaces: For long slots or tears: This one for getting right up into corners: Etc.. HC.

following on from what I said about failing with crushed copper tube. Big lumps of ally work brilliantly. My grandad used to weld ally for a living and so bits seem to float about in the garage. But I reckon a pillaged computer CPU heatsink would work splendidly.

Ah Hah! I thought that was how people did it. I just have to make up some way of holding it in place in the trans tunnel while I work inside the car. Ta very much ;D
