If you need an anorak, then what hope do I have? Lots of VWs have whats know as an M plate, as well as the VIN plate which details what you've said, it covers the factory fitted extras /\ that lot translates to this lot ;D

My names Speedman, and I bought a book to help me decode my M plate and enjoyed it so much I've done the same for 25 fellow VW owners!

decoded the one on my mustang using a different site, nice to know it was originally supplied to Kansas city, Kansas and that it was a gorgeous colour called smoked pewter mettalic, which because of that it will now be resprayed in..

me and vin on my car don't get on the vin says the car was made in feb 73 but the body style was only made in 71 as there were lots of little changes made to the mk3 over their production years so mine had to have been late registered but also stamped late . it was bought by a ford employee so that could have something to do with it . and you thought you were an anorak ;D ;D

there is the tale of a strike at the transit plant which left lots of unpainted shells sat around outside waiting in the rain which were then pulled in and finished supposedly some of them were sat around for about a year ttfn glenn

You can't meet a fellow AMV8 owner without swapping chassis numbers..
During the 70's Aston Martin were in so much financial difficultly that each car had something different about it - I think they bought up redundant parts bins from various manufacturers.
