This is the second time around for this thread. The first one descended into a fun, but potentially very offensive thread. The new one is about the vans! Those crazy guys over in Japan have a scaryily bizarre view of rape (their comics and videos covering the subject are relatively well documented - it's a part of their culture that confuses me a lot) and as such they use the term more lightly, I guess. They call this type of van a 'Rape Van'. We, in the course of the last thread, have renamed them 'Surprise Vans'. The look is awesome. sorry for the vulgar title people, but I can't really sugar coat them any other way, they are what they are ;D. quoted directly from another forum for your viewing pleasure There's a new kool thing japan: its Rape Vans. Apparently this new trend is called "Dajiban" which just means "Dodge Van". Its all about the LHD, with USDM V8's and USDM performance parts. Also, hoodies, aviators, and the general "rapist" theme. You thought I was kidding about the rape part. People into this scene refer to themselves as "Hentais

Bit of a NASCAR/Stock car feel too? I'm thinking those two diddy (kei?) vans might fit in too. Not seen them posted in a while. Trying to think what they look like. One's definitely got some orange in it I think, and old sixties/seventies era decals. I'm not helping am I!

Yes I am loving the NASCAR feel of the wheel and tyre choice.

Can't help but think the A-Team van would fit in very well with this.

I didn't get this thread first time around but suspect is somehow to do with Hollywood's ability to 'typecast' not only actors but also brand names and other iconic objects. Mopar designs do have a sinister look about them. The black charger the 'bad' guys drove in Bullit for example...... 'Christine' wouldn't have been very scary if the Director had chosen an Austin Maxi over the '58 Plymouth Fury to star in the role. Even the names are damned scary! As for aviators.... I've worn 'em since the '70's and TBH they are the most practical shades you can get and everyone was wearin' 'em when 'road movies' and Dodge Tradesman vans were at there peak. Personally..... I think it's just another example of the 'Hollywood' effect.

I've always had a 'thing' for these kind of vans...especially ones looking like this: Or 'Murder Spec' as I've always called them

Thats pretty much what most of the lads over on the Transit forum build these days, lowered with beefed up suspension, some fat wheels and the insides carpeted out, engine mods are rarer but do happen, i think thats mainly because most of the UK trannies are derv though.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

By the way, I'm pretty sure this term isn't exclusive to Japan, I have seen Americans use the term 'Rapist truck' to describe beat up old looking pickup trucks.

so pete when you slammin it then ;D i can't go much lower than it allready is.. the gear box sits about 3" lower than anything else!! so it only just clears speed bumps as is! its allready taken 1 or 2 knocks!! could fit a steel skid plate and get some sparks flying ! got a set of 15" rims to fit on it, just to keep it moble while i strip the RS eights down.. that will drop it bit more!!
