My 76 b series would be exempt.  But my other 87 GT wouldnt be exempt for another 2 years, would be worth the wait!!! |

only my carpi would be  On this subject it still amazes me when I read adverts on eBay etc that have stuff like "Its a 1978 model so should be tax exempt very soon" I know getting annoyed by stuff you read on the net is a waste of time but it hurts my brain that some people are so stupid |

My Marina Suntor would have been for ten years now. The Monza would have been for two years and My Manta hatch would be next year. Carlton would have another 9 years to go. (Sounds a bit new put like that...  Got two tax exempt cars so shouldn't complain too loudly though... ;D On a different note I love this, couldn't agree more... I know getting annoyed by stuff you read on the net is a waste of time but it hurts my brain that some people are so stupid New signature me thinks!! ;D |

'85 Porsche 944 - going to tax it today but would save myself £97.25...
'88 Nova GTE would still be a couple of years off. I've got a couple of pre-85 V5s tucked away somewhere though... Sorry Officer, have I really put the wrong number plates on it?
I've had a couple of Austin 1100s and the like that were '73 models and somewhat ridiculously tax-payable whereas an identical car from the previous year would have been tax free. Any sense in that??
Nowadays I wouldn't consider using any of the above as a daily driver, basically because no ABS / no airbags / feeble lights etc makes me feel somewhat exposed in modern traffic.
Surely the tax exemption was introduced originally because such old cars were seldom used?
Cars more that 12-15 years old seem a very rare sight to me now.
