hi all , i thought i would post a couple of pics of my mini as ive got a few minutes spare, i bought the car last october with the intention of just smartening it up a bit and using it as my first car on the road, but as usual one thing led to another and its ended up a little bit nice actually ..
it started off as this , a fairly genuine car from the scrapper for 200 quid .
after new front floors, new sills, new inner arches, a pillars and panels, new boot floor, new dashbar, new dash etc etc it started to look like this ....
i then decided i might aswell bare metal it and do a decent job of the paint , so out with the 80grits..
fitted new doors and new ally skins .. not the nicest cos i fitted a-panels to the old doors, so i had to strech one skin 1/2 inch and strech the other one , ideally i would have re-fitted the a-panels but i didnt have the time, the money and had just primered them
then after taking the car to my work/friends for painting in the booth i had to assemble it in double quick speed in order to have it road legel by my birthday, the whole car was painted and re-assembled, taxed, mot'd etc in less than 40 days (or should i say nights as i was at college all day)
00:01 on thursday 29th october and i hit the road, all be it on curse word wheels cos my tubes didnt arive in time
so here is a couple of pics of her today, its still not properly finished, but then they never are are they ?! quite pleased with it though, i have done a few fair length journeys in it now without major problems and it took a good day of thrashing round the country lanes today
genna clean up the inside soon and get some pics of that and the engine bay .
BTW i am only just 17, literally all the work on the car has been done by me, welding, electrics, filler, primer, spannering, polishing etc ...except from applying the colour coat to the main car (i painted bonnet, boot and doors) cos we painted the whole rest of the car in one hit , inside, outside, engine bay and boot , so it was a mission for a proper painter !
thanks
