I recently picked up an old Audioline 405 radio/cassette head unit and was wondering how old it is, does anyone here know? It's got a CD input which surprised me as I thought Audioloine had gone before the advent of personal CD players. I'm toying with the idea of fitting it into my soon to be daily Manta GT/E if it's the right sort of age.

Blimey!! I had one of the First versions this in my Mk1 Escort!! Bought it out of my mums Kays Catalogue in 1988... that was Squarer than this, had a little button to turn the LED's on and off... I rekon this must be a couple of years newer...

My mate bought one of them new in 1992 for his Fiat Panda...
Aux input was just right for sticking a personal CD player on... or now an ipod...

Wow, quite surprised its got an aux input, thought they were a more recent thing, like in the last 5-10 years. I guess they disappeared when cd players were integrated into car stereos and then reappeared when mp3 players came out.

Thanks for the replies, I got so little information when I googled Audioline it's almost as if they didn't exist. Not sure if I'm going to fit it if it's around 92, although there probably were plenty that got fitted into 5 year old cars.

The Harry Moss/Audioline factory was in Redditch where I used to live...pretty much everyone I knew had their systems in their motors (but strangely no-one actually paid much-or indeed anything- for them......hehehe). I had one exactly the same as that brand new in my wagon in about 1990. The Aux input was usually for a CD Walkman or similar.
The real classic was the DIN D version (as in spindle either side) which came out in about 1985/6, I had one of those, too.

Yep bought one of these new. Mine was 1993 and identical. Aux input was for personal cd player (with optional spring wobbly plate car cd kit). Audioline was budget end of the market. I had the choice of ieither a Goodmans or Audioline for the momey. Went with Audioline in the end as it felt better made....It wasnt lol

I have a boxed, brand new (well, it's a few years old, obviously, but never been used) Audioline 405. I'm ready to sell it, but where's the best place: any suggestions?

Don't Manta's need a special short head unit to fit in the dash properly?

Yeah but most use a little piece of 'trim' so you can fit a modern unit (I do)
