I overtook a car full throttle on a wet dual carragway and crabbed sideways onto the other lane! Sometimes I like the way it handles but other times it infuriates me. The problem with Sierras is the spongy (stock) suspension, the car surprisingly breaks out and at top speed there is no way to catch the car again. In comparison, you can always give a BMW a good kick with the right foot and the car is where you want it. Or maybe it's a lack of practise, never tried to drift a Sierra V6 intentionally.. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

I found my 4x4 very tail happy and easy to control in a slide, but it was far from stock in terms of suspension setup and had the extra power of the turbo conversion. It was one of the best cars I've owned for day to day driving pleasure, in comparison my XR4i felt clumsy.
I'm not sure how you'll get on with sourcing wheels, it tends to be fwd stuff that fits and the offset sits the wheels too far in at the back.

The black 4i is Pete's who runs XR Style, it was a normal 2.8 in those pics I think but got a 5.0 V8 conversion later in its life. Mine was very similar looking ![](http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2728/4041689093_0cfcbb1a57_o.jpg) ![](http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2428/4040259690_1f099848f6.jpg) ![](http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2445/4041700907_947c97b271.jpg) The twin turbo conversions tend to be the turbo technics converted 2.9's. Very quick cars!

This is what I mean, there are loads of awesome looking mk1 3 doors but no one seems to be able to make an xr4x4 hatch look good!!

This was mine with 17's and lowered. I ended up buying a 3dr cossie body kit that had been modified to fit a 5dr but decided not to go ahead with it. ![](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3354/3262107481_cb9667751a.jpg) ![](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3471/3262934590_9c15cdfe08.jpg) Just keep an eye out for some cheap 16/17's in the right fitment and lower it as much as you dare, perhaps get a second set of old springs and chop them incase you go too low. Crude exhaust with just a back box will sound awesome. It's a just a daily, no point getting silly about it. Like you say you just want it to be a more entertaining car to hop into and drive. More noise and better stance is all you need.

I also quite like this angle. ![](http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2593/4041973237_18498c3912_o.jpg) I know bigger wheels aren't 'in' here at the mo but I really don't think 15's will ever look big enough on a Sierra, they are just too bulbous.

This is what I mean, there are loads of awesome looking mk1 3 doors but no one seems to be able to make an xr4x4 hatch look good!! My XR4x4 looked pretty good (well at least from a distance - close up you could see how rough it was) ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v53/IDY171272/MVC-445F.jpg) ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v53/IDY171272/MVC-393F.jpg) It had been laid up for a while when those photos were taken so not looking its best Full RS bodykit, cossie nose grill (mesh deleted by pheasant), debadged, side bump strips removed, Mondeo escort cossie style alloys

The Escort Cossie 5 spokes look infinitely better than the Mondeo ones.

Id love to lower mine but lots of people have said not too wiht a 4x4 ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) Any suggestions of CHEAP wheels that would actually fill the arches rather than be stuck in about 5 inches and look like its on shopping trolley wheels? Really I need to leave it alone and save some cash but I just want to be a bit excited bout my daily. How bad would the geometry be if I properly slammed it? Would I have "negetive camber for the win" or would it look ridiculous? Reckon it's encourage more RWD style characteristics if it was chopspringslammed? I overtook a car full throttle on a wet dual carragway and crabbed sideways onto the other lane! Sometimes I like the way it handles but other times it infuriates me. They say Mitsi Evos are boring, this has about 200 hp less! I think your best option is to sell the 4x4 and find a 4i...

Who has modded a Sierra then? Thinkin that if I'm to keep my XR4X4 for a bit I'm gonna have to make it a bit different. I reckon on wider wheels and a hefty lowering job being first port of call but it has to be on a stringent shoestring budget as I shouldnt be spending anything on my daily and in fact I should be saving to sort the turbo Capri instead ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) Anyone have any cool sierra modding tips/pics? I was also thinking of getting some more of that tasty V6 sound out of it, Ive removed the top of the air filter and fastened the element down, so far so good. Maybe scaffold pipe the backbox? (Wont be a first, did it on my Cortina!!) My Googlage only returns a thousand awesome mk1s, 3 doors, and cossies - not many like mine Althou did find this cool green one from on here ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) ![](http://media.photobucket.com/image/ford%20sierra%20rusty/robin_xr4i/DSC00172.jpg) Heres mine ;D ![](http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c33/Daveyboy20/sierra/_MG_2752.jpg) ![](http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c33/Daveyboy20/sierra/IMG_2736.jpg) that the one on ebay? £500 BIN derby? I had my eye on that! Looked alright!
