Hello lads!
Bought this about a month ago off a mate who decided he didn't need it for the princely sum of €150.
Finally managed to drag it from the lock up the the garage under my house which I glorify with the title of my Workshop.
The plan is,unfortunately, not for a mental V8 4wd track monster.Just a good resto back to standard with a reliable 998 engine to be used as my daily driver/load lugger.
Still debating the colour, stuck between a lightish grey or a darkish green with an OEW roof. Rims will be Melbergs probably, black with polished spokes.
I'm going to be doing this on as tight a budget as possible so I'll probably end up spraying it at home or rollering it to save pennies.
Therefore to keep track of expenses,I'm gonna start posting them up at the end of every progress report,a la the genius that is Dave Oldbus. Hopefully it'll enable me to spend the saved pennies on faster Minis!
Anyway enough waffling and onto some crappy pics.
That A panel will deffo need to go as it's totally rotten and the wing is badly dented so I'll probably end up replacing that as well.Door doesn't appear to be too bad.
That grille will definitely be making way for a proper van one.Just need to come up with a way of making it removable without it appearing to be so.
Totally disgusting plastic dash to be binned as well.Going for an original look centre pod. Do like the wheel though.
Note the seats. They appear to be from something else and are really comfortable. However they don't recline and they're so wide getting at the hand brake is diffcult so we'll see where they end up.
Back doors appear to be in good condition too thankfully.
So that's it for now.Haven't done anything since it arrived at Le Shop cos I've giving the Landy some lovin but That should be ready this week and I can start tearing the van apart. Also need to continue my stupid tradition of naming my old heaps but still haven't come up with anything for this. Time will tell.
Finally
Money Spent -- €150 (purchase price)
Hours Invested -- 1 hr (just to see if it would start )
Thanks for looking and all comments/suggestions welcome!
