Technically my mums, she got a TT a few years ago and left this in the garage, in the end we agreed it should live with me. Its a keeper, I will never sell this car. It does split opinions! Its truely a thing of the 80s! Its a 2.8 straight 6, and I have no plans to upgrade it or tune it. TBH its just there to have, its insured for 3000miles a year and I doubt it will ever make it to that. Main reason for dragging it out is it has lots of cool memories for me, mum had a succession of 240s and 260s before this, but this is the one I can remember being taken to school in etc. Condition wise its in very nice nick, it was zebarted from new and was painted about 8 years ago. It has a couple of patchs needing attention, but tbh they will have to get worse before I will do them, as they are really very minor. Its been polished since the pictures were taken, did 302 miles in it last year, none this year though!

Absolutely love it Really really nice car and hats off to you for keeping it totally standard Sadly, recent threads and posts by those in power have made it clear that this isn't a welcome place for standard cars Apparently it goes against the forums true nature an meaning

It's a beautiful car, I quite like it and respect the desire to keep it standard, but surely it's not worth keeping unless you're going to drive it?! Get it out in the sunshine at least one day per month, you'll find you enjoy it much more. Doesn't have to be an epic road trip, just an hour or so of a Sunday drive/cruise down some backroads to enjoy the feel of the car on the road. People drive cars everyday which are much less practical and more valuable, including many with at least the equivalent sentimental value.

Nice rare late manual 280zx, in very good order. But use it more they love to be driven and eat the miles up. Owned about 6 of these in the past.

80's indeed.
The brown dash and seats do take me back.
And we loved it then.

to respond to a few comments: no its not quite standard with the slots no, they came with the car, but its standard other than that. it does need a exhaust also, so might end up with a stainless. I do plan on using it a bit more next summer, this year kinda flew by and just never got a chance to do the bits and bobs on it, I agree cars should be used, i do try to use all mine, but it does sometimes happen that I don't get a chance to use things for a while! I absolutly love the way it drives, and I don't plan on totally mothballing it. Soopahfly: The econobox is my trackcar, I have owned it about 6 years, with a mate of mine. Its awesome fun on track and is not roadlegal. So I will continue to ponce about with it cheers

Exactly, it is not standard on the slots. And it is your car, so YOU decide how much you want tor drive it. I have a soft spot for those. It is NOT the most beautiful sports car in the world, even the earlier Z models are much prettier, that said, the 280ZX is not ugly, so don't misunderstand me. But I remember when I was 8 years old. Our school was next to some apartment houses, and because of that, even the parking lot for them. Once, a really amazing black sports car parked there. It looked like something that would have been doing 150 mph standing still. It had gold racing stripes, and I think, gold criss-cross alloys. If my memory serves me right, it also had one of those reflector strips between the taillamps, that had the script "280 ZX" written (i've been getting more unsure about that, because I've never seen that on another 280ZX, were they available at all or does my memory serve me all wrong???) on it. That almost made my chin drop to the ground so I went to take a look on it. I studied it for a while and saw that it was a.......DATSUN? Could this be true? The company that used to make Cherries and Bluebirds (remember, they may be cool today, but 70s J-tin in pea green, mustard yellow or poo brown were NOT hot in 1994) made this sports car that looked as cool as a Ferrari or Corvette. Well, that changed the way I looked at japanese cars forever (since I never heard anything good about them from my father that were driving yanks and stacklight benzes ). A moment I never will forget. Well, that may have gotten a bit too personal, but hey, after all it is the memories of old cars that makes much of the interest in them... What I want to say....I love this! Stock or not, driven or standing still, it is a mint 280ZX and that will NEVER be boring.

Thanks! Thats a big part of what these older cars are all about isn't it? The memories they bring up.

Amazing car mate, and TBH I perfer them in standard trim they are just right.
Well if the powers that be have some sort of an issue with this motor then they really are stupid! Also I count another car on this very section that the owner has stated it will be Standard. Christ this place is getting worse!

Yep they done a reflective/lit panel that replaced the number plate it matched in with the tail lights, and had 280zx on it Also it was/could have been lit up at night. I had one on mine. . And its red/burgandy not brown (the interior) If you want more comfort in the front early 300zx seat nearly bolt in(3 of the 4 bolt holes line up using 300zx runners).

I am also one that love my cars standard, and I am happy to read that this is staying so.
I agree that they should be driven and enjoyed at least they should be semi retired, it feels a lot better when you wait one or two weeks to take the car out on a sunny afternoon.
