I've scoured the internet and come up empty handed. As some of you know I'm fitting the engine/driveline/brakes/wiring/everything from one of these: into one of these: unfortunately the simca dash has all of about 2 switches on it (and even those are hidden under the dash): whilst the Piazza has somewhat more: I want to use the wiring from teh Piazza for all the controls (aircon, cruise etc) but the dash must look as close to period as possible. I have been hunting for classic looking control knobs that I can fit to generic controls and getting no-where, the best option I have found so far is to buy remanufactured early beetle knobs. does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks!

;D Seriously tho maybe you could get some new switches from something like the new MINI as they have a more classic look but with more modern functionality, maybe some of the other new-retro things will have interesting switchgear too.

Is your Simca one of those? If so, the red or the green? They look like minters! I had a 1959 Aronde Coupe, loved the damned thing. Until it met its demise at a Jethro Tull concert......

Thanks Matto, the new Fiat 500 controls are actually not bad!
Team Blitz - no unfortunately neither of those are mine, mine is the same as the green wagon, but has been dry-stored for 15 years, then possibly stored outside somethere dry before that. Lots of 'patina'

I think Beetle stuff will be your best bet. Very easy to find and relatively cheap, compared to alternative classic stuff. Not much in the way of range though, you basically get either rotary knobs or pull-out switches with identical knobs on the end. How many functions of the Isuzu do you need to keep? Surely you would only need ignition (key barrel), indicators, headlights, high/low beam and maybe hazards. If you're going to graft in the heater/demist system where there previously was none, perhaps a control panel from some old car in the wreckers could help you out? Or even a Vintage Air panel.
Try taking a walk around U-Pull-It to see what kind of stuff is around. A/C will be the real problem, as it wasn't really seen around here until at least the '70s, by which stage the control gear may look too modern. Still, I believe the early Holden A/C controls had chrome knobs on sliding controls in a black panel, which should basically go with anything.

Chicken head knobs might come in handy? A good place to look would be at guitar/amp stuff too?

MG Owners club do (or used to do) the old toggle switches which are extremely satisfying to flick on and off with a heavy clunk! Like the ones under the radio You could probably get similar switches at an electrical supplier's shop

you could make a flip down panel in the dash in a Thunderbirds stylee so that it hinges down forwards and all the switchgear is mounted on the back of it.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

Toggle switches with up to 30A rating for about $5 each. Cheapest place to find them, but you'll still feel the sting if you're outfitting a dash full of the things.

Thanks for the suggestions, my initial intention was to outfit it with Jaycar switches, but I need on/off, instantaneous and reostat style switches, and I'm having trouble finding a matching set across the range, does anyone make instantaneous style toggles?

Jaycar have momentary toggles which look the same as the regular ones. You have to look for them carefully, or get a catalogue.

There`s a company called Holden that do period switchgear. I used to have a catalogue here but I`m buggered if I can find it now. Worth a google. Edit- www.holden.co.uk
