My car needs side repeaters as you cant see the front indicators from the side.
The car is 1991.
I'd like to get rid of the side repeaters though and have had 2 random thoughts. Do you think they would work, and/or be legal?
First thought is to fit some bright repeaters behind the door so the light shines through the panel gap between the door and front wing.
Second thought is to have a bright light that lights up the whole front wheel well.
But, do you have to be able to see the lense? Or is being able to see the light enough?
I also assume they need to be legal lenses, so no hiding LED's in the arch trim?
Any thoughts/wisdom on this?

What about a little amber LED cluster in one of the side windows? I've know a few people do it that way. Something like this: www.sureelectronics.net/goods.php?id=240I used 3 each side inside the stock clusters on my 106 to replace the standard bulb.

You could have them in the door mirrors, like the current Honda Accords and Mercs (amongst others) my image search skills are failing me right now tho Either modding a newer door mirror onto the car or add a light to your current ones should be easily possible.

I know someone who slings the repeaters out of his engine bay and tapes them onto the wing for MOT time, then tucks them away afterwards and he's never had hassle,
This is simply because he accidentally bought a pair of pattern 205gti wings and had them painted before he noticed there was no repeater holes.
I imagine as long as they are there for MOT, do what you like the rest of the year, so fill your boots!

I have thought about just running temp ones for the MOT, but i'd like the car to be fully legal at all times really.
The LED clusters are good, are non e marked side repeaters legal?
I have considered putting them in the mirrors but i want to clean up the car as much as possible. If i cant hide them 100% then i may as well leave them where they are.
Inside the windows is a great idea, pitty i don't have 1/4 lights. Could probably rig something though, small piece of window tint and you'd never know.
I think lighting the whole wheel well would be easiest and work best but is it legal? I guess teh BMW badge repeaters are a similar concept, you cant see the lense but you can see the light (if i remember right).
I know there are construction and use regs online somewhere for all vehicle lighting but i cant find them.
While were at it, front indicators, is there a minimum legal height from the floor? Thinking of converting my fogs to indicators.

Porsche cayennes have a repeater inside the front of the front wheelarch (hope that makes sense!)
They also have one on the outside of the arch but it's obscured from the rear by the shape of the arch, hence the insede-arch repeater.
Shows that it's legal to have a repeater in the arch but I think whatever you have it has to be visible from 180 degrees of the side of the car.
Can you check in the SVA rules?

Ive read up on the viability angles, I'm just not sure if you have to be able to see the actual light unit. I figured with a bright enough light you'll see it from the right angles when its working.
Well, you wont see 'it' but you'll see the light.
Is there anywhere i could contact for verification? Not sure if the 'oficials' have better things to be doing than answering my silly questions lol.
