Ok I'm renewing the Tbird insurance.
Renewal letter comes in from Performance Direct for £322. I thought it would be sensible to shop around, although last year PD's quote was basically the same as everyone else.
So, I've had the following:
Classicline (Brit) - £212.50 (350xs, agreed value of £6k) Adrian Flux (Trinity Lane) - £172.35 (100xs, agreed value of £6k) RH Classic Ins (Equity) - £75.60 (100xs, no agreed value)
Maybe I'm being sceptical here, but aren't RH just a little bit too cheap? They don't offer agreed value and say that Equity will pay out market prices.
Does anyone have experience of RH and/or Equity in terms of their claims process and pay outs?
I'm feeling this is a case of you get what you pay for as its so cheap...

Yeah market value scares me. It could do me a favour if cars are for sale at a high price, but thenas '61-'63 tbirds aren't filling out the pages of autotrader they can more or less guess the value
I'll try FJ later cheers

RH will only agree value if the car is garaged.

I used RH for years, but always worked on the basis that a total loss claim would be "interesting" lol. Having said that, I got paid out on a mk3 cortina that someone set fire to, the assessor just agreed with my valuation because he had no idea what it was worth...

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

My 59 Caddy is with RH, going to check that it's value is agreed now. I had assumed it was a classic policies generally are.

Hi Motorama, will be interesting to see if yours is agreed, however I think the answer might be yes if its garaged

this agreed value thing, I think for older cars they(insurance companies) use the price guides like the one in Practically Carsicks. However in the case of the Anglia's the prices are so wrong in there despite our club telling them until they are blue in the face. It worries me how all this would pan out in the event of a claim. Anglia vans in tip top mint concours can fetch anything up to 7K these days, doesn't say that in the last PC I bought.

Usually in the case of an agreed value the insured will usually get an independent valuation done (owners club, specialist etc) and the insurers will accept that. It may need to be done on one of their own forms (Heritage work like this I think), or on headed paper (RH accept this). In the case of RH the agreed value is shown on the schedule.

We repair for equity red star, all i will say is erm.
Yes they are cheap but if you could see what they are like with a modern i would not go there with yours, however they are just the underwritter possibly in this case.
You need an agreed value as without this a 500 pound repair could see your car deemed a write off.
I had agreed value with HERTZ and they paid out no problems and that was insured through them with Highway. If i had not had agreed i would have got £300 instead of 2K and the assesor did not want to write mine off.
