Appologies if someone has started one of these before, but just wandering what silly projects people have been thinking about. My latest is to take a T4 and stick it ona 4x4 chassis for the ultimate camper, somthing like this but in olvie drab and a bit less spazzy looking: If I had the space, tallent and money I think id spend my life building stupid stuff like this lol.

yep but VW did the 'syncro' or whatever it was called themselves on the old camper right? So surely you need to be MUCH more extreme on the T4 camper 4x4

So surely you need to be MUCH more extreme on the T4 camper 4x4 They did, but I think you are limited with how high you can go/how biger wheels you can fit. I'm thinking drop one onto a landrover/L200 chassis with some nice big wheels, and a nice big engine and propper 4x4. The pic was the best I could do while trying to work lol Would also be funny to paint it yellow and sticker it up as Vanessa's Lunchbox lol

I want to make a hybrid out of some gas guzzling 70s land yacht yank.
My plan was to use something like a Cadillac Eldorado, desmog that, maybe turbo it, EFi and suitable computer control. Then at the back end to have another transaxle but this one electric. I have no idea how the control system would work. Sadi car would have all digital dash/touch screen etc. and be all techno mania inside, with satnav, DVD/TV/ICE/etc.
BIG hybrid decals on the front fenders.
My other silly idea was to get a Cadillac Eldorado (I have an unhealthy fixation with them) and move the whole motor and transaxle to the rear, possibly using a Porsche transaxle. I'd panel over the rear seat area to make a HUGE mid engine 2 seat spyder thing. it would have active control suspension and like 10x20 rims and zero ground clearance and fancy electricly adjusted spoilers which slideout of the deck lid and under the bumpers and stuff.
I also thought about making an Eldorado into a boat.
And I also thought about making a twin engine (16 litre LOL) Eldorado.

I can see a patern in your choice of car emerging... I like the shape of them, but I can't get over them being FWD. So I come up with ways to fix that! I did "plan" a RWD 1967 Oldsmobile Toranado using a Buick Riviera chassis and a 98 engine, but then Jay Leno had one built (but used an LS engine) I'd like to do a proper pro touring Oldsmobile Toranado ('67 or so model) because it would kinda wee on everyones chips. Make a V8 American FWD car that handles and drags... Hmmmm.... Ipassed a nice one over for £1995 a few years ago (because it was FWD) and have kicked myself for that ever since.

Have you seen this one AK? Not until now. Nice, I shall have a read. The chap that built that imense TDI '70 Chevelle with 2000 BHP is supposed to be building a muscle car hybrid as his next project. I can't wait. I have the occasional Fiero related idea. Nothing unusual though, just putting a 4.5 Northstar V8 into one.

the 4x4 camper idea is one i've been toying with, but i was planning on using a transit van on a decent chassis, put it on hold for a bit now though as this is our next family build for comfy beds while camping, excuse the bad photoshop, it was never meant for public consumption just to give us an idea of if it works visually or not.

a stupid idea that has been rattling around my skull (not much else in there to stop it) is a luxobarge double cab pick up bmw, merc or lexus. Giving big 6 or v8 power and all the toys and space for curse word and toys in the back so would probably have to start with a stretch to give enough length in the bed or possibly fit twin rear axles i have quite a few other flights of fantasy but this is probably the most possible ttfn glenn

Having seem MM's Renegade rail, I want to build one - maybe an Imp-based one. I've been looking at the IVA requirements, and it looks do-able, if only just.

I have 4 projects floating round my head that i'm sure will never come to fruition but i can allways dream.
1. Jaguar XJS trackcar. Not just a stripped out XJS with a rollcage but i fullblown (literally) supercharged 6.5 litre V12 monster of a trackcar ;D
2. Mercedes Trackcar. Take one Mercedes W123 Estate (it has to be an estate) and fit a modern 6.2 litre engine on throttle bodies and DTA management, strip, cage, custom suspension and brakes and hey presto, one seriously fast/cool Merc.
3. Transit MegaVan. Take one Mk3 Ford Transit medium wheelbase, strip to a shell, cut the pannels away, replace with fibreglass items, add a very very comprehensive rollcage. Customise the suspension and brakes, fit some 10inch wide rear wheels on slicks and up front fit a modern Ford diesel V6 which will have the curse word tuned off of it and probably be quad turbo'd for some extra umph.
4. Transit Connect BabyVan. One Transit connect fitted with an Mitsubishi Evo engine and running gear and all of the usual treatment to make it a proper trackcar/trackvan ;D
The only project that i'm actually likely to do though is to fit my 405 Mi16 with a Peugeot V6 engine from a 605/Xantia/406.

I always thought a Porsche 914 with a 928S V8 would be a giggle, or something rickety and wibblepoo like a Locost or a Robin Hood with a Laverda Jota triple in it.
In fact, any car with a Laverda Jota triple in it. Perhaps you could do what the factory did and make a V6 out of two triples on a common crankcase, then stick it in a Matra D Jet or an Alpine A106.
