When I bought my Wolseley it was shod with a set of 5½x13in 100+ 5-spokes as per the photo below:
When it comes to wheels I’m usually a steels-with-rings-n-caps or slot-mag guy. The Wolz is currently rolling on a set of stock steel rims but I’ve just acquired a pair of Minor Van wheels (4½x14in) for the back which will probably get a coat of the stock wheel cream or very pale yellow and the rings and caps treatment.
So, what to do with the 5-spokes? I quite like the idea of having an alternative set of rims but I don’t really like the wheels as they are. So the thought occurred to me to strip the paint off, repaint the spokes and centres in a different colour and polish the rims.
Has anyone anything like this before? The only other alloys I own / have owned have been slot-mags which just need the machined surfaces polishing, so I’ve no experience of refurbishing alloys that originally came painted.
Finally, what colour for the centres? The car is painted in BMC Maroon B, I was thinking an amber / orange centre might work well?
