Always after ways to save weight, especially at the front of the car, I am looking at getting a lightweight battery and probably mounting it in the boot. I am just not sure if a lightweight battery will be up to my needs. My car is not used every day, sometimes not for a couple of weeks. I am not running any special audio system or any other drain on the electrics, everything is pretty stock. Does anyone have any advice, and suggested batteries? Thanks

You'll probably be OK, just make sure you run some decent wire down the car. The combination of a smaller battery and the voltage drop over 2m of cable could cause issues.
Aim for 2 guage welder cable (or flashier but more expensive amplifier cable).
No need to run an earth wire, just earth the battery to the shell. The massive draw of the starter would blow any fuse you put in line, so make REALLY sure you protect the wire very well as it passes through bulkheads or near anything sharp.

Cool, thanks for the info So would the lightweight battery be more reliable if left up front?

I know a lot of guys who run them on race & drift cars, they are rarely up to the job of accasional starting from what I can see, might fare better on a daily. I'd go for a JDM spec small battery as fitted to R33 Skylines & many other imports.

Yup they usually have a massive starting amperage but no storage capacity at all. Mine would run out in 3 days on my Clio and that had nothing other than a alarm been powered off it when the ignition wasn't on.
