Nice evening i thought. Nice night for a sociable drive ?? You'd have thought so ! Not so good though was the patch of oil i caught on a roundabout which caused me to drift wide and collect the kerb and bollard on the exit ! Result ? One Spitfire with a snapped chassis ! Fortunately its only the section which supports the bonnet and bumper. Engine/radiator untouched but one sorry looking Sprintfire and a few long nights ahead of me to get it ready for next weekend !

Argh bad luck. I'm sure you'll get it all fixed though - doesn't sound like it's as bad as it could have been.

Well, on the bright side it looks like those outriggers could have done with being repaired / replaced anyway. Such a cool car!

Thanks. I think that's the reason they snapped like that. It'd been over-plated badly by previous owner and rusted underneath. They'd only used 18swg sheet to repair it beforehand ! probably saved any worse damage due to the 'built in crumple/corrosion zones' ! lol

Oh dear! My first crash after two weeks of driving was in a spitfire (that was over 20 years ago now ) , it just spun on a damp patch and i took out a lamp post ;D Well i hope you get it sorted soon.
