Apologies for the non retro content. Went out this morning to pick up some post. Jumped in the car and drove off. Thought there was a funny noise like a flat tyre. Parked up looked at the passenger side and was greeted with this ARRRGGHHHH!!!! Not happy. Spent nearly £300 on new wheels and exhaust last week. Foolishly only insured TPFT so this is gonna cost me. Rang the police and they are going to check if there were any incidents reported last night but i wont hold my breath.

Much as I hate to say it (or contribute to O/T stuff), 99% of insurance doesn't pay out if the insured was under the influence of drink or drugs. But good luck and dig the russian cheerleader. (Best get some car pics in people!)

Dude thats bad, Hope u get some good news from the police. I know a chap who got hit by a drink driver about 18 months back. The insurance paid out for my mate, but didnt give the drink driver a penny towards their own car even tho it was a £15K golf and goes without saying refused cover from that day fwd. I bet they'll struggle once their ban is over!

(Best get some car pics in people!) Insurance companys are not allowed to do this - even if the vehicle was stolen, if the car had insurance they will pay out for the TP vehicle. The only time they wont pay out is if it's not insured. It dosn't matter that they were drunk. Also even though they were drunk they can still claim on there own insurance. You can also claim if they didnt have insurance but it's a long drawn out affair and you get about 75% settlement. If you have any problems send me a PM

All this talk about insurance invalidated for this, that, and the other, is generally nonsense. A persons insurance must provide the legal minimum cover regardless of what idiocy the driver gets up to. So, if shes insured you should get something. If shes not insured you should be able to get something from the MIB fund, but it wont be a lot.

Well the police have been around and i gave them a statement. The girl was found to be twice over the limit and driving without insurance. The car is insured by her mum but I'm not sure if i will be able to make a claim against her or not. Apparently the girl was round her friends house drinking and had a row with her boyfriend and then decided to drive home! She told the policewoman that she had just scratched my car Started the ball rolling with HelpHire hopefully will get a payout but i won't hold my breath.

I'm awaiting a court date for a very similar thing mate - the insurance here will pay up - then they have to get her to pay them...... but the tart that hit me was using her company car - so she was usually covered. Good luck - at least you weren't there! I was helping a drunken mate outta the car and was knocked out by the door frame ;D Long story!
