When people ask about my taste in cars I usually reply with something like 'If you have to ask why, you won't understand'.

The best answer there,Frink.
But when I drive the Mini I still get a kick outta seeing people faces at the noise/smoke/silly stickers and stripes. When I'm caning it down a busy street everyone turns to look and it makes me grin. Still apologise for it sometimes though

Some people are just so concious about their image that they wouldn';t be able to cope with everyday life if they didn't have a sub 3 year old barge.
I think slating your past, especially what your parents could afford (or not) is something to be ashamed of.

I think slating your past, especially what your parents could afford (or not) is something to be ashamed of. i agree with that. we had a list of what would now be classed as retro rides... but then were just old bangers.... two capris for instance. one in white with a grey bonnet. the next maroon with a white bonnet lol.... then a volvo 245glt estate with a bleached door. a carlton 3.0 cdx estate that was actually freaking wicked lol

Hmm, all those cars they posted up are fantastic.
I have to admit though, in my younger days I shared a similar view - At one point my parents drove a blue Volvo 240 Estate (which I quite like these days) but it was a knackered 15 year old car with large, bright orange spots where my dad had sanded down the rust and sprayed primer over the top.

I think slating your past, especially what your parents could afford (or not) is something to be ashamed of. hear hear! No one at work gets it, but then I don't get football Having worked at main dealer garages and driven plenty of new cars, I simply prefer to drive old cars, its got nothing to do with image for me anyway, excuse the pun but it really is just a way of life, always has been and hopfully always will be.

Another one agreeing with Mr. 69.
I think those who have no interest in cars don't notice "us".

My son has no problem being dropped off at school in a mk2 'tina. Apparently, its "well cool"
Trouble is, this week I'm driving my daughter's cast off mk3 polo coupe (which isnt) so I have to park round the corner. LoL..

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

I like Polo Coupés.
I also have always loved my parents' cars.
We had a Dyane, a povo spec Austin Metro and several Citroens and an Alfa 33. I also used to WANT to go in my mums friends Identity crisis Bluebird.
Always been a fan of the less cool cars. Then again I'm kinda weird.

Kids at school thought my dad had a Rolls Royce because he used to drop me off in a Wolseley 16/60 ... It is interesting that I think the same of the cars on PH as they do of our cars. Horses for courses... I leave em to it, they don't care what I think and I don't care what they think
