For sale, a Colchester Student (Round head) Gap-bed metal lathe. @ £500 no offers.
-Single phase
-Gap bed lathe giving a 6" swing installed and enough swing for flywheels removed. (I need to measure this)
-Screw cutting (Imp & metric) + power feed gearbox.
-3-Jaw chuck
-4-jaw chuck
-Large faceplate.
-All tools (chuck keys/lockring spanner) + some home-made helping tools!
-Copy of a colchester student manual.
+Cutting tools avaliable to the buyer if required.
Lathe was converted to single phase before I purchased it, bypassing the built in switching console.
I built another switching console to safely use it, however this got damaged moving stuff in my workshop (it was rather fragile!) and as such is not avaliable for purchase.
The motor is operable by a single phase plug if needed, although I am sure the buyer would choose to construct a new switching console.
The lathe is regerettably for sale due to me moving to a different place, without room for a workshop.
I have owned the lathe for several years now, slowly re-painting and servicing it.
I have managed to repaint most of the lathe, however as it can be seen there are some areas which I have not reached yet! (In blue & also around the back)
It has had a complete internal clean and new oil around a year ago.
Bad points
-Some painting outstanding
-Suds pump requires sorting out, but is present.
The lathe is perfect for a home workshop and is reasonably easy to move about with a palette truck or such like.
Buyer to collect from Marple, SE Manchester.
Any questions just call on 07833 197 720 or email edd.collins@hotmail.co.uk
Avaliable to retrorider's first, but ebay is it's next port of call!
