hi, dudes, up the pub last wednesday local rocker/car nut approached me with an offer. The bumber sceptre that he'd saved from the scrappie a few years ago. assuming that he'd got it up and running in the meantime I thought he'd be asking a fair but out of my price price, but no, he'd not touched it and it had been under cover ever since and just wanted to recover what he paid for it. slightly distorted rear end photo, must have moved the phone!! headlights are missing and most of the brightwork but, hey satin black and metalflake roof, who needs chrome? all seems pretty solid underneath, looks like somebody had a go at restoring it but gave up. should I pick up the gauntlet??? ;D no self control me

Isnt' that a Sceptre? Or am I being an idiot again?
If you can afford it and have the space for it,don't let it get crushed.

its far too solid to crush, unfortunately so is the engine. still , nothing a pint of diesel or wd40 and a long soak wont sort out. i've had worse!! worst case, it gets a pinto and 5 speed

I need to check it's all there (I'm 99% sure it is, though the ancillaries might not be), but it's a carefully stored low-miler.
Having a bit of a clearout and this is on the list to go - how does £50 sound? There's at least one spare head, and maybe a few other bits you might find useful too, such as a pair of Vogue/Superminx fueltanks...

nah!. she tried to turn, then turned but no spark. NMR fiddled around with the points and stuff which had been fitted with insulation missing or in wrong place. tried t o turn her over again and she was seized solid again. no clues!!. drop of WD40 down each of the cylinders and leave her to soak for the week. she will rise again!! target date for ratty runaround is september so work must start in Earnest as long as old earnie doesn't mind. MrT see you in a few weeks for that engine , gonna need it!

went to workshop and pulled the old lump out today. all the nuts and bolts were easy to crack off but you had to take something else off anytime you needed to get to anything. i.e to get starter out, the exhaust had to come off. to get the exhaust off, the alternator had to come out. boy I love old english cars beer courtesy of the lovely mr oldbus. we had no milk for tea, honest! also, spike found these tucked down the inner wheelarch. 15p for 4 glass fuses. might put them on ebay ;D taking the engine out of spikes chuvit tomorrow ready for something bigger. he's gonna have to dig deep to find the original thread for that one!!
