finally got a metro subframe at the weekend so I thought id have a go at fitting it up tonight! started off by stripping all the steering rack off the back of it. then tried it for size! seemed to fit up better than I could have hoped! hardly any mods to the bulkhead yet! just has to trim the edge where the two skins overlap under the shock mount. took off the hydragas cans and used one of the plates as a template to mark out for the side plates. then marked where the holes for the shock mounts where meant to be. this was all done very technically using a set square and a skrewdriver scribe! lol 1st attempt had the frame to far back so tryed again with another shot. got it spot on so tacked the two together and used one as a template. then fitted it up! looks to be in the right place! I tested it by jumping on the front of the subframe and it didnt fall off yet, will add floor braces and weld the sideplates to the bulkhead after some trimming down to save some weight as their made of 5mm steel and are heavy!!! using the metro subframe as opposed to the mini means i get proper suspension (wishbones) Win ;D! and it makes fitting the k-series a whole lot easier! just need some mgf driveshafts and to cook up some engine mounts and i should be cooking! cheers, chris

so tonight i got a bit more done on the car. trimmed off the old steering rack mount and a few of the tabs off the bulkhead. then started on making the floor mounts, decided to make them out of some tube i had kicking around. made the plate that sit against the bulkhead out of some fat 5mm plate ;D should do the job! then started on the tower mounts. chop chop! also cut the hole for the for the steering column to meet the rack. getting there!

You're moving at a decent pace with this coxy lol. If you ever need any bits or pieces my uncles got a load of mini spares down off wigton bypass where my workshop is and right next to it theres my other uncles fab-shop so theres a ton of decent size off-cuts etc you're welcome to if you need any bits and bobs.
When you expecting to see her running?
