Does anyone have a copy of a Haynes manual for a 1500GT Cortina (or 1500GT Corsair) and have a scanner?
My Cortina manual seems to have gone AWOL and I need a the intructions for setting up the 28/36 DCD Weber carb. Can anyone help?
Cheers, Rich

I've got one, should be able to scan it and PM you at some point today, if no-one beats me to it.

... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

Manual choke right?
Take it off and clean it right up. Open the float chamber and clean it out. Check the throttle pump diaphragm isn't perished or stretched out as this will make it stumble when you nail it. Clean up all the mechanisms on the outside of the carb with WD40 and make extra sure everything is completely free and returning all the way to closed positions.
I think there are two tubes coming out the carb, somewhere down the side. One is for the vacuum advance and the other should be blanked off. If they are left open it won't idle well.
Idle mixture. Wind the mixture screw all the way in and back it out 1.5 turns. This is a rough starting point. Start the engine, warm it up and set the idle speed. Richen the idle mixture 1/4 turn and let the speed settle. If it's faster now then richen it more until the speed doesn't go up any higher. If it gets slower when you richen it then lean it off 1/4 turn until you get the highest speed. This is your idle mixture set, you'll know when you're there.
You might need to richen it up to 1/2 a turn on top of that if it stumbles just off idle when you're driving, this is normal, just increase the idle speed a bit to compensate.
That should be all you need to do because the rest is all mechanical on springs.
