that looks pretty sweet! i cant find anything on it on google, does it have any serial numbers on it? if you can take a pic of the back to see the neck joint, back of headstock also inside the guitar to see the pots and the wood should get a better idea of what it may be

There was an Epiphone coronet from before they were part of Gibson I think. You sure it is the original neck/head?

whip the neck off you might find something in the neck pocket or a date or something stamped on the heel of the neck. if its not made of ply wood then its going to be worth keeping hold of

going on the inlays id say it might have some thing to do with Hoshino Gakki, which is the factory that made Antoria, CSL and some Ibanez guitars at the time. only cause ive seen those rounded edge inlays on guitars made there as well

Just done some googling and recon you could be right! Ibanez used the same tuners, pickups, where the strings are held, identical inlays in the fingerboard and near identical heads around the end of the 70s

A sense of scale


Anyone know how to adjust/repair pickups like mine?

could you explain 'waxed'? pretty sure they're not. have a feeling most of the noise is coming from the top pickup, as it is quite high up, but is almost as low as it will go. what happens when you touch the screws that appear to act as pickups? (steep learning curve for a double bass player )

waxing the pickup is fairly standard mod on older guitars, they do it as standard on some pickups. all it basically is is that the pickup is a magnet with a long bit of copper wire wrapped around it in a coil. there are bound to be tiny gaps and it can cause unwanted feedback. so some people melt a candle in a cup and submerge the copper coil into the wax to fill in any gaps. it stops the noise but it may not be the issue.

could it be possible that its not grounded or a shielding problem?

am i right in thinking that this fuzzy sound isnt happening when you only have the bridge pickup on? as that will obviously rule out the amp
