here's my datsun 120y,.only had it a year so far, brought it standard for a local girl who rescued it from a lock up garage, where it had been for many years after the first owner died. given it some alloys and fitted 280 zx front brakes and struts converted to adjustable coil overs. changed the original 1200cc engine out for a 1800cc mazda vvt enigne and gearbox from a 2002 mx5. running standard with the mazda injection ecu etc.

Lovely. I liked this car even before I knew it was MX5 powered! It was my car of the show at Goodwood's Sushi Sunday last year.

ok here's a rubbish pic of inside and one of engine bay. i fitted the engine over the last few months. goes pretty well for a 1800 but you do need to rev it.

Thats marvellous. How did you get on with wiring up the mazda engine, was it fairly straightforward?

cheers. as far as wiring up the engine goes. i used the mx5 engine bay loom and ecu but had to get a complete ecu/immobliser and transponder key all matching. also had to tie it all in to the datsun loom, am running a second feed off of the battery to a seperate engine/dash loom only, fuse box. i cut out a few conectors off of a mx5 so i have a obd2 and diagnostics plug for reading faults codes etc. very usefull i thought dash is mazda dials behind standard datsun dials had to fit switchs to the brake and clutch pedals and also am now using electronic speedo drive. some work in progress
