My Celica GT4 project I have picked up has a 1/4 tank of petrol but its been in there for 5 yrs......so i'm guessing it's a big no no to try starting it with that? or could I put some fresh fuel in and mix it with the bad?
Tried to siphon it out today but it must have an anti siphon device as I can't get the hose into the tank.....
Any advice would be great as i'd like to try and get it started tomorrow....

What does it smell like? I'd be tempted to just bung some fresh fuel on top unless it smells like varnish and has gone yellow. If you do have to drain it, its usually easier to disconnect a fuel line and pump it out than trying to syphon.

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

I've seen engines start on that age fuel without any problems. If in doubt, just add some fresh.

we pulled an anglia out of a barn that had being sat 29 years, started it on the original fuel and drove it home, also ran a metro that had been stood 14 years on its original fuel, wont do it any harm mate,

Old carb'd stuff doesn't mind too much - ran an Anglia on 10 year old stuff and that was fine despite the stuff looking like a really strong cup of tea On the other hand I had a Fiesta 1.4 Zetec that had been off the road 2 1/2 years and stuck it in for test with the 1/4 tank of fuel it came with. Emissions were an epic fail, stink, smoke and 8% CO Quite impressive I thought through a cat Stuck 20 litres of fresh unleaded in and it sailed through.
