Now that the Brown Bomb is complete it's time to get on with Ted, which was bought last year and has been languishing in the garage until today As it arrived last year Today the stripdown started Errrrrrr Grot Bright idea So bye bye engine More Grot That can go as well After sorting the Brown Bomb out for it MOT I made a few of the holes a little larger today Mmmm messy Panel list soo far Floors Sills (inner and outer) Jacking points Centre box Scuttle Valance Heel board Rear wheel arches Boot floor and rear seat base Rear bins Wings Front panel Inner wings and A post Door skins Sounds like the Brown Bomb MK2 I just keep making the hole bigger But fear not I have a cunning plan me lord I had to adjust the new panel to fit the original floor pan a little better And tacked up for tomorrow's re-fit of the rear subframe Got a bit more done today And I made another big hole Another noisy day down at the garage making the holes bigger again But to start with, some obigatory rust pictures Hole nearly ready for floor pan, just some trimming and cleaning up To be continued...

It's only a lost cause when the rust extends to the top of the roof

Nice progress - just goes to show that anything is repairable with a little effort. Plenty of people would have just stripped that for parts and crushed the shell.

Thats very true about the '63 steel billy N/S/R wheel arch nearly ready to remove and boot floor repair tacked into place, the new panel was a nightmare hence the burn marks on it as I had to heat it up and reshape it

Great work. Looks good and once done will last for a long time. Spare a thought for others though. How much harder would it be if those panels were not available!

I know what you mean and I have some troubles ahead as the side panels, door steps, A posts and front panels are not available for MK1's so I will have to re-engineer MK4 panels to suit.

M Machine stock all of those panels for a Mk1.
Good progress being made though, is this one staying stock?

The M Machine panels are a good fit but not as good as I would like, all those I have bought so far required fettling
Visually the only change will be 4.5x10" steels
Mechanically its going to be fully adjustable suspension using the small coil springs that replace the cones, 7.5" vented front brakes, rear disc brakes and a modestly tuned 850 or 998 engine
