You know all about Bigperms Budget VIP: Well, I ended up with it, drove it over winter, then ripped the LPG stuff off for my Limo. The plan was to then get rid of the car, but in all honesty it's only worth about £500, so I decided I'd track-day it, then strip it for parts. I know it's a sad state of affairs to take apart a perfectly good car, but needs must, and it's worth *loads* more as parts. Anyway, it is time to strip and prepare it for trackday use. It originally weighed in at 1880kg (according to Wikipedia), let's see how much we lose! ;D First thing out was the bulky front seats. 5.5 stone each. That's 70kg in the front seats alone! Yeah, I need front seats - going to throw the MX5 ones in for now. Possibly a little anal, but I weighed everything as it came off. Here are the results so far: Front seats 70 Rear seat 30 Carpets & mats 26 Trim* 24.5 Front doors trim (cards, air bags, speakers) 14 Central locking pump 1.5 Parcel shelf 7.3 * All the plastics, rubbers, covers, brackets etc. That's 173.3kg (about 27 stone)! Still got loads to take out, but have to add a little for the MX5 seats. Marham track day is about 3 weeks time, so still plenty to do!

........along with the air con pump, blower motors, instrumentation........alternator, doors, roof Ditch the cats/silencers too if you can, they weigh a ton! Switch to lighter steels as well, if it's the case with this model

Absolutely loving this idea! Not fair though, you've saved more than my whole project to date, just on your front seats!

Good lord Chris !!! I reckon my gold mk1 is going to weigh about 800kg ish when its back on the road, see if you can loose that much !! Do the bumpers have big impact bars in them ?? Look forward to working out how much you'll improve the pwr/wht ratio too. AND !!! Are you going to allow yourself to be flayed alive on Benzworld tho ;D

Cheers for the comments guys. Should be fun when done... A quarter tonne! This was the original target, and we've still got quite a bit to take out/off. Todays score: Boot stuff inc spare wheel - 35.8kg Trim - 16.4kg Engine bay and internals - 4.7kg Back door cards and trim - 14.1kg Wire - 7.1kg! Todays total - 78.1kg Total - 253.6kg Woot! Today I was mostly removing wire! 7.1kg of it has come out so far. Looks a little better inside now, as you'll see below. Central locking, speakers (12 of them!), airbag stuff, seat electrics etc etc... I've left the front electric windows in though, cause it may get a bit warm in there. Anyway, we all like pics, so here ya go: This was the state of play this morning A few hows later, this was on the floor Better? Still more to come out, but it's getting there.

Wow! I'd never think there would be so much weight that could be stripped out, lots of wires too. Does the car have air con? Ripping that out could save alot of weight too. Superb idea too, looking forward to the outcome
