I know I have an existing thread here about Hillman Imps, and I'm still probably going to get one to be honest, as they tick all of my boxes. But a Bond Bug was mentioned in a thread on here, and it reminded me of them. I think they are one of the coolest cars ever made. However, they don't really tick any of my boxes, they probably don't handle that well being a three wheeler, they only have two seats, and not much room for luggage. I can't seem to find a price for these though, let alone any for sale. Are these things going to be really expensive because they are collectible and considered "chick" now? Or are they a potential bargain? Thanks all

I used to look these up on ebay quite a bit, sub £1k you could get a project one, £1500 would get you a road worthy one and about £2k+ would get a nice condition/restored one.
hella quick apparently as they use a 750 bike engine and are quite light.
id like one still if i had a garage, id paint it white and put a fireblade or similar engine in it.

its not a bike engine, its derived from the old Austin 7 car engine and is weedy, they feel fast cos they are light and the handling is dodgy, even the owners club will tell you that.

there was a mag featured one with a turbo'd hyabusa engine in it on ebay last week. 0-60 2.8 seconds and a quarter mile in 10.something and it was only 9995 BIN. i thought that was a steal. it was road legal aswell.

I gots to admit that was about 3 years ago when i really wanted one but got a crx instead. price maybe about the same? cant imagine they're that much more if you look around you might get a cheap one/ my bad on the bike engine, it was secondhand info from google years ago. although i think particular bike engines are fairly easy swap, again I'm just speculating on hazy research from back in the day. it could be worthless curse word I'm typing here

they have a normal front engine (well, could be classed as mid I guess as its behind the front wheel) and rwd, not much room for engine swops but light enough for a bike engine I reckon. The Bond bugs have better rear suspension than the rest of em so they do handle better, but everything is relative.

... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

i thought reliant re engineered it from sidevalve to overhead valve in '62 but it was basically the same engine otherwise?

Thats been on and off the bay for months with out even a bite despite the attention it got when it was completed. I think the prices quoted above are a little short but not by much. I looked at buying a bug last summer and there was very little went for under a grand, about £12 - £1500 was getting a project with good ones going beyond £2500 with ease. As ever the owners clubs are the best people to ask.
