The matrix on the sunbeam is blocked, ive tried running water though it but it only comes out a trickle so ive decided to bite the bullet and pull the dash out and clean the matrix out, ive got some descaler but has anyone claaned one out before and can tell me the best way to do it?

Isn't there some of product for cleaning radiators?
Radflush or something.
Heater matrix is still basically a radiator, even runs off the same hot water.
Connect it back up, get the car nice and warm to get the juices flowing and bung some in, it might do the trick

I cant I'm having the rad recored and don't want it getting grubby so thought id get the heater martix done while i cant drive the car thou i might boil a kettle and try it that way?

Try blocking one end up and leaving the stuff to soak over night

try costic soda fill and leave to soak for a few hours then wash out it cleans most things up so should work.

Well i managed to get it cleared, I removed it from the car and ran water though it till it was coming out reasonably clear,but wasnt flowing out the other pipe so i ran a few boiling kettles full of water through, then drained it added some kettle descaler and then filled it with boiling water for an hour then flushed it through with more boiling water till it ran clear then emptied it upside down and there was still a bit of silt in it so i kept running kettles of water through so it ran clear For the sake of taking it oiut of the car it was definatly worth the extra effort to clear the silt etc out of it , plus i bet the kitchen drain is really clean now  |
