Got some nice 12" Wellers from the Imp National the other week (much like Rev's actualy ) in need of repainting as they are currently lovely and rusty. Will get them sand blasted but how do you go about re-painting steels? Will presumably need to get a colour match if I'm going to go original (white'ish) but what kind of paint will it need to be, some kind of gloss/stonechip? Do i need a primer/undercoat and what sort to use on wheels? Cheers

You'll be surprised at how easy this is. Well done for getting them sandblasted first though, it's a pig of a job by hand. Halfrauds for rattle cans. Honest! If you prime them well, followed by carefully applied top coat, then clear laquer to finish, they'll wear well. Best painting tip ever, warm the paint by standing the can in a jug of hot water for 5 minutes before you spray. Also, rather than blasting in for total coverage straight away, do a light coat first, no need to cover all the wheel, then built up several successive coats leaving a few minutes between for the paint to dry a little. When applying the last few coats of the clear, you can put the paint on a bit heavier to acheive a great gloss, but be carefull, too much and it could run. If that happens, you can flat it back with wet n dry paper to rescue it.

*edited as i wrote the same as above !* ;D butyeah - all id add is that after the sandblast to give a going over with kurust or similar to kill any moisture lurking . . . and you can also get matt or satin clear coat too...
