Ok, time for a readers rides thread. I'm sure you've all seen it by now but ill update it as i get time to do bits too it. I bought it from a guy who bought it in 1972. It had a little welding 20 years ago but its still solid so he must have done a good job. Theres a bit of filler in it and its been painted a couple of times but its presentable enough for now. Plans are, get it back to as stock as possible and as nice as possble. Fit triple SU's and a decent 'zorst. Lower it as much as possible, 14" steels, white band tyres and full hubcaps of some description. If i ever have the time/space/money ill repaint it in 'flake, probably gold. So far ive had it 4 days and all ive done is remove the seat covers. Imediate plans are to remove the towbar, refit the front bench seat, tune it up a bit, deal with the sunroof and drop it 2" Heres a mix of pics from the sellers add, there better than any pics ive got at the moment. Hopefully ill be able to get started on it in a week or so.

Thats fantastic. The last time I saw one of these it was going round Aldershot banger track I seem to remember a matt black one that haunted the streets of Poole in Dorset when I was a nipper, looked like something out of Mad Max.........my memory fades though, the vision dims. ;D

That is just plain gorgeous. Nothing better than a 50's/60's estate.

No pics, but brief update. Took the front bench seat down to be re-trimmed, should be done by the end of next week so ill put pics up then. Spent today sorting heater linkages (still no heat though), removing the tow bar and some general fiddling. Car seems very solid thank god! Changed the oil and added some wynns additive, seems to have helped the smoking a little for now but will dive into the engine some time soon

No doubt theres a few more around somewhere though. well there's 3 mk2 estates near me!! one minter, one that's the parts / reference car for the minter (which has had a full, no expense spared resto) - and one bare blasted shell which was deemed 'not good enough' and so now sits out in the rain in a yard - seriously!! - kev

Are you 'in' wales? Ive heard of a guy in manchester that has 3, and i know of a few others. I think i know of more of these than the club does! There a mix of highline, lowline, consul/zephyr/zodiac though. Anyhow, triple SU's are on the way ;D ;D ;D Ive also sorted some 15" wheels so hopefully, in a few weeks, the interior will be sorted, the wheels will be done and it'll be a bit quicker. Got a lead on an origional radio too

Been hunting parts. Got me a standard valve radio that I'm modifying from positive earth mono radio to negative earth stereo MP3 player Hopefully picking up some triple SU's soon and it turns out a frined has a 6 branch manifold in his garage i can have Picked up some volvo amazon steels to fit when i get some time. Got my bench seat back from the trimmers, fitted it this morning. We just covered the seat base and the top panel on the seat back. Theres a few little nicks in the rest but i didnt want it completely new. I had to take the seat belts out to fit it though. Not sure if ill put them back in or not, undecided

Kevan Eldridge Doesn't look like he's been on here since April 2013. Could be well worth sending him a private message on here though, on the off chance he picks it up? Hope you manage to get in contact!

Ive been looking through my old threads, reminiscing about past cars and noticed the previous owner had been looking for this car. Just to update, incase he sees this or it comes up in internet searches. I sold the car on ebay to a guy who ran a pub. A few years later I was informed by someone else the pub had been closed down and boarded up and this car was left half stripped on ramps in the pub car park for a few years. I assume pub was reposessed, car (was to be used for weddings) was probably a bussiness asset with the pub. No idea after that but it wasnt looking good edit... just checked, its only a month out of test so it probably lives!!!!
