The middle one looks not dissimilar from certain Mazda / Toyota models.... any relavance?

I don't think they're anything other than a model on their own - I think they pre-date the Gemini. The truth is that I don't know much about them, except they're great. I believe that as well as Japan, they have a bit of an Australian following too.   It seems there's a fastback version:  (although I think the notch version is a neater design) |

Also,.. I think that the Bellet = the 117 ,.. just different model names,.. the earlier ones are definatly called the Bellet but the later models seem to all be called 117 and there is some cross over (at least on yahoo auctions) in between.

Seems that the 117 isn't a later Bellet,.. but a seperate model, I suspect they are based on the same mechanicals though. |

the isuzu story is class, they fought off an aggressive take over by GM from the boardroom down. by japanese law a board room of a japanese company cannot be run by all foreigners or something like that, and they managed to fend off GM with just a few japanese isuzu blokes on board. they later fell on their feet when isuzu diesel trucks were the only ones on sale at the time to meet a new tough diesel law in japan for trucks  |
