Thought you would be confused. I am sure the pic below will snap your memories back. That is if my birthday thread had a pic of them, as on display at Beaulieu. OK, so maybe no pic of the wooden crates, but hope you get the idea. Does anyone know where I can get or buy (preferably "get" ) one ? I need it for my Honda PC 50 project, as a tailbox to carry "stuff" in when riding it. Cheers.

I've got something in my garage that might be a good alternative.
Not an oil crate unfortunately, but it might be a suitable 'plan B' to use while sourcing an oil crate.
More details when you get here on Sat....

How about an old petrol can cut in half and hinged? This sort of thing, layed on its side?

Clearly condition would not be hugely relevant Seth, as it would be cut, hinged and latched if that were the case, and then painted and done up to suit. However, my guess would be along the lines of "made from Unobtanium" unless someone does a shed/house clearance and discovers one. Guess I should blitz Ebay as well, as they would be totaly in fitting with the style and plan.

I just searched Ebay for that photo. There's lots around, different makes etc. I think some are valuable but most aren't.

Thanks Paul, I have saved that search.
Seth, I will dig around tonight, as I have a busy day for a change ;D
The least valuable is about where I want to pitch, as it would be modded anyway and then be "worthless"
In the mean time, who knows, someone on here may have a stash ;D

I've got a shell one like that sitting in my garden, picked it up for a £5 at a car boot sale ;D

I've got a shell one like that sitting in my garden, picked it up for a £5 at a car boot sale ;D £5 sounds about right. Ultimately it is just a base for something else. But even as a nice to have item, I think much more than £5 would have to be pretty special.

I know it's really what you're after but old army ammo boxes and shell cases look cool on bikes. They have clip on or hinged lids too.

I have an old ammo box thats traveled with me for years, but it is not right for the look, and feel.
Making one is definitely plan "B" but hey, why re-invent the wheel if it is already made ?
I am sure I will get it sorted.
Redbaron, you will have PM .

May i suggest once Grizz is provided for you flog the other 11 to the Brisca F2 Historic Stock Car crowd for muchos profitos? They use them as fuel tanks, I bought one when I was intending to build a car for that series...
