The garage I keep the Manta in is a few streets away from the house, in a row of about 40 other garages.
Over the years there's been a few incidents of petty vandalism to some of the doors - the bottom corners lifted up mainly, mine was done over summer so it's now got padlocks either edge at the bottom. But yesterday i came down to see this a few doors up from mine.....
This is after the owner had unlocked the door as it was padlocked to the frame at the bottom but it dodn't stop them pulling the frame from the building, along witht eh door - all for two bikes
I'm now slightly concerned about how safe everything in the garage is. As the car's SORNed it's not insured - might be an idea to get this laid-up insurance I've read about, but that doesn't cover all my tools and other stuff in there.
Anyone know of an insurance firm that will cover garage contents?
Also, any suggestions on securing the door?
As said, I've got padlocks either side on the bottom and one in the middle at the top.
I've screwed some wood to the bottom of the door to close up the gap between it and the floor so they can't get thier hands under it to lever the door up - was going to put a sharpened length of steel along there instead but decided against it.
I've put a load of screws through the top of the frame into the lintel and a few extra down the side into the brickwork.
Can't think of much else I can do to protect it from attack.
Oh, and I've taken to locking the majority of my tools in the boot of the car.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions, here a few pics of retro garages......
