Had a little bump the other day, lets just say I ran out of talent on a greasy roundabout and bumped into a nice old chap who I slipped £150 for the damage to his car, turned out he wanted a bit of help in the garden offered me a few days work during the summer (I am a gardener anyway) I peeled off the stickers on the replacement door and the laquer came off the paint... I took off all the lower trim too. Also, no mudflaps. I have a lot of careful scraping and use of brake cleaner to get the rest of the old tape off, unless someone knows an easier way...? Then I will paint the sills silver for now until I get round to fixing all the bits of rust, hiding the exhaust and repainting the bottom half. Not bad from 50 feet hmmm

I was very lucky he was not of a vindictive nature, the accident happened near my very house and we pulled off the main road round the corner and onto my drive and I offered him a cup of tea while we exchanged details.

Lighter fuel is pretty much the same thing but cheaper and available in your local corner shop!

I managed to borrow a toffee wheel off a friend who runs a bodyshop. It made light work of the adhesive and even some of the paint I have put on there in the past was taken off to show the original stuff underneath. I gave it a quick coat of silver Hammerite (not a bad match), painted the butt cheeks black as suggested and painted the exhaust black so you cant see it as much. I want to paint the bottom half a darker silver like the pic below, just not sure on the tone yet. You can see the where the laquer has peeled, I now notice the door has been resprayed before and new decals applied. The drivers door looks dented at the bottom/front but it's the where the paint has faded. So, now I can relax a bit about the car and enjoy it, not likely! the clutch is slipping more and more, it will need swapping for a turbo clutch soon.
