Looks like my car will be sold on sat, so i'm going to replace with wifes car with a new car (this will now be the main family car) leaving me with a little dosh for a retro runaround!
so far i have spotted flea bay a E30 318iS with 77k, looks in good nick
and locally a E30 325i with 150k, looks like a sport has the body kit, could not see if it had sports seats (crappy looking seat covers), some paint fade on rear spoiler and boot, rear arches have seen a touchup that looks flat
any guidlines for prices on these motors??
also - if anyone knows of something decent, reliable & retro in scotland let me know!!
cheers

If the 325i is a "sport" it will be daft money, no matter what condition it's in. Utter snotters at death's door and with biffed bodywork will make £1000. Standard 325i.... maybe £500 in that condition. Sounds like a money pit though.
That 318iS sounds cracking, if it only done 77k have it away! Although watch for rustyness... low miles doesn't mean low rust. Look for the service history and you should be OK, but expect it to go for maybe 2k considering the mileage.

EDIT: Just looked at the eBay one - what a peach! May make £3k ++

rust areas, check battery tray, corners of front footwells(just above front jacking point there is a horrible horrible rust trap)
under rear boot seal is normally a grot box to.
mine is unfortunately a rusty wibblepoo that i overpayed for. but ah well no biggie but do your best to spot all the rust with a good check over the car saves you any horribe suprises later on.

thanks lads
will need to wait until sat before i do anything, but the ebay would be my 1st choice - as long as it stays under £2K
the 325 - i'd look at this one very, very carefully - and it'd have to be cheap! looks good from 10yards, only seen it in the rain.....

I think the head-lining is anthracite colour on genuine sports and light coloured on everything else. Have a look if this is visible on the pics.
Id personally look for an unmolested 325se thats been looked after. They have all the performance of the sport (maybe not quite on corners) and they go a lot cheaper so you could always upgrade to sport spec suspension (unless it was fitted as an optional extra anyway).
The 'sixes sound fantastic but can be a little thirsty and the 4-pots are better balanced.
