OK, maybe I am stuck in the 80s, but I heard there is a series coming up at the end of the year, set in 1990. Apart from the Mk3 transit and the scorpio/granada, what was about then? Oddly I can remember 1986 like it was yesterday, but 1990 is er, not so sharp ;D . Must be getting old! help me out here, and if anybody want their car to be considered let me know.

BMW e30's and e34's were still current. Ford Sierra Sapphire, Mk4 Escort, Mk3 Fiesta (I think they were rotten when they came off the production line so frilly arches shouldn't matter too much! ;D) Mk3 Cavaliers! Erm... loadsa stuff! Here's my e34 (four years too new but they were all over the place in 1990) And here's a 1991 Mk3 Fiesta me and my bro used to own...

I think in 1990 most people were still driving 1970s and 1980s cars.
I remember in like 1991 and 1992 I was buying Vauxhall Victors, Mk3 Cortinas and the like and generally finding them in the local newspaper line ads.
OK those were older than average, but there was not yet quite the credit boom of every 17 year old having a 2 year old car type thing.
About that time people I can remember having cars drove Minis, VW type 2s, Mk1 Golf, Mk2 Polo, Chevette, Mk1 & Mk2 Escort, Mk3 Capri, Mk2 Granada, Audi Coupe, Mk2 and Mk3 Fiesta.

You're right, I saw one of those "Police, Oi, Stop, Camera" programmes from the early 1990s not long back, narrated by none other than The Bill's PC Tony Stamp on valium, and I was amazed to see how many older cars were still in daily use. People bought cars they could afford back then. I dare say though, that the creators of a programme set in 1990 would want to see cars made in 1990 as I wouldn't have thought they'd be able to justify to the audience that a 1985 car would have still been driven in the 1990s. Just like a film set in 1960's London means that everyone knows the Beatles and lives in Carnaby Street. ;D

I've owned 5 cars from 89/90, and I wasn't even born then!
2x205s, 2xMk2 Polos and an AX. All typical hatches from that era.

If it's not a Ford though, maybe y'all could mention the make as well as the model.....

Also, you'd be welcome to use my 1988 Sierra 2.0i GLS if you wanted - it's a couple of years early but it's very much of its era in terms of its looks and colour scheme

Erm, 1990 I was driving a yellow 1976 Viva, then moved onto a Mini.
Wasn't it about 1990 when the 'new' Rover badged minis came out and all the people with 'proper' minis snubbed them.

most realistic way would be to have a few mint f/g/h/ platers around, and go gradually further back with a scattering of older and gradually more abused examples knocking around. Its suprising what you could pop into a new car dealers and still pick up back then, still lingering on the price lists ; 126bis, 2cv, volvo 240, old shape ser 3 v12 daimler, CX estate... I've got a few old CAR magazine issues and that gives a good snapshot of what was avaliable....
