Tilt-shift is a fancy little photo technique, that makes photos look like minitures...it does tend to work better on landscapes, but I think it looks kind of nice for vehicles too. Wikipedia "Miniature faking is a post-processing technique, which involves selectively blurring a photo to simulate the narrow depth of field found in macro photography and some tilt-shift photography, making the image appear to be of a miniature model." Ive found a website, that duplicates the technique. tiltshiftmaker.com/Here's an example from the website, and two of the BMW. Please try it out.

Needs work, the top/bottom of the Beemer in the second pic should not be blurry, you should have cropped it out when blurring the back/foreground. It would be in the same depth of field as the sides of the car, and therefore in focus.
Good first attempt though.

Tilt shift does seem to be the latest photo fad at the moment, check out this great monster truck even vid all done with tilt shift focusing and reduced frame rate to look like stop animation.

Someone needs to find Jamie Lipman's UN Fiat 500 'shoot for the veneerable Practical Classics magazine's June 2008 issue. He won an award for that feature, y'know. I hear the words were exceptional, too...

Nice quirky technique, but not to be confused with the use of a Tilt & Shift lens on a normal camera, different thing to solve the problem of converging verticals etc. but with a very similar name

Lookig at the car pics posted in this thread it looks like it has quite a low success rate...certainly the initial BMW pics look nothing more than blurry to me! The second Panda shot looks like a scale model though.

Works best with a wide angle shot from a distance as per these I found after a quick search of flickr. Nick
