hey, My name is Koen and I live in Belgium. Since 2007 i've been working on an opel kadett C (like your vauxhall chevette with another front). I have loads of pics on my website: kadett.koendd.be but I'll post some here as well! Hope you like it february 2007, when I bought the kadett: it all looked nice but you will find out it's the opposite... Then I started stripping! water problem due to a rusty battery tray: it looked fine... but: Filler and fiber everywhere!

Wow, absolutely amazing work there! This will be a magnificent little car when you're finished. Any plans for modifying it? Will the engine remain as standard?

Wow, absolutely amazing work there! This will be a magnificent little car when you're finished. Any plans for modifying it? Will the engine remain as standard? thanks! Well for now, the enige will remain the stock 1.2 but you never now what the future brings only problem in belgium is, if you put a bigger enige in you car, you can't get through MOT anymore! there is one way to do it, but then you have strict regulation, like only drive in 25km around your house, not after sunset. The only time you can drive further then that is if you go to a meeting. I prefer to drive my car whenever I want, whereever I want so stock enige for now

Crikey, those Belgian car laws sound pretty draconian! I live in South Australia, where there is no MOT, no Road-Worthiness Certificate and no inspections of any kind unless you get pulled over by the police. When I bought my VW it had been sitting unregistered in a driveway for 10 months and all I had to do to register it was go to the Motor Registry, write down the car's details and plate number and pay the fees. That's it! I'm hoping it stays that way, although most of the other Australian states have a similar system to the British MOT.
It's nice to see that even though various governments makes it so difficult, people are still rescuing and preserving those classic euro cars.

Another option for old cars is oldtimerMOT You go to MOT once, and you never have to go back (but see restrictions in previous post, 25km, not after sunset...) Before you go to the oldtimerMOT you car has to be 100% stock! so a lot of people go to oldtimerMOT, once they get through, they change everything, big engine, new brakes, lowering... and then just hope that police doesn't stop you...

thanks! Next month it will be 2 year that I'm working on it! I was a student so I could only work in weekends or in hollidays. And everything was on a "budget", And didn't know anything about cars when I started the project, but still now I'm a "beginner" From next week on I'll be working so I can buy more and things will go a little faster now! Hope to get it ready in august but no rush...

Mechanic's rule #1... If the car works, anything left on the floor after you finished wasn't needed in the first place
